Hi

Does anyone have any recent experience while giving birth in Stoke Mandeville? How was the birth and post natal experience?

I'm due to give birth there mid Oct, potentially induction

Many thanks in advance

Midwives there are absolutely lovely. A little disorganized system wise. But this was 2 years ago pre pandemic.

Hi. Has been a while but I wondered how you got on with your birth at Stoke Mandeville? I am due my second in November and we will be moving to Berkhamstead before then so I think I have a choice of Watford or Stoke Mandeville.

I gave birth there in 2010 and had an induction and I would personally never go back. I was coerced into it in the first place, with flimsy medical premise and then the needle for the epidural caused a post dural tear (headaches for 4 weeks postpartum until it healed naturally). Baby and I were very traumatised and I was keen not to repeat it. Following birth was at the Horton in Banbury and thr third at home.

I had a very relaxing and professional experience. In 2016 I was given a very large room and en-suite bathroom. I had 2 to 3 midwives and they were very professional and respectful towards me and my family. It was child number 2 and a natural birth (vaginal and pain relief free). I couldn't fault them.

Exact opposite experience for child number 1 at the Birthing centre in Wycome... although things might have changed. I should have sussed it from the shaky Spanish community midwife during the check ups. She wanted the low down on an interracial marriage and family. She then gave unprofessional snippets of what she had heard about marriages for passports back in Spain. Yes honey, and 15 years after saying "I do", we are still together. Ain't no sham marriage here. Oh and you didn't fill in my notes properly either. And no, you don't get to shout down the phone to me. Hence why a complaint was made.
