Leicester royal or Leicester general?

I’m recently pregnant and have been given the choice of both of these hospitals - Leicester Royal and Leicester General. I have not had dealings with either hospital before so looking for some constructive comments and maybe previous experience with the maternity departments for both to help me decide? Thanks Smile

I gave birth in the midwife led centre at the royal infirmary and it was a lovely experience. Had lovely midwives and received good care. No complaints at all. The birth centre was lovely. Booked in to give birth there again in December.

Leicester general is quieter hospital which appealed to me. Also had a great team there. Went on to St Mary's at Melton for some aftercare and help with breastfeeding, it was 10 yrs ago though so not sure if still available.....good luck Smile

The midwife led birth unit (orchard) at LRI is lovely, I've had 2 good experiences there - My most recent being during lockdown and it was still fine. Have heard the team at the general are also great & although agree it is a quieter hospital, maternity can be very busy it just depends on your day.
The home birth team are also fabulous in Leicester if this is something you would consider. Good luck!

Please consider the Home Birth Team in Leicester. They are really good and you can refer yourself.

Had both of mine at Leicester General - amazing midwives there.

Good luck Smile
