VBAC: positive stories? Prep advice?

I’m currently looking into VBAC: my midwife thinks I’m a good candidate, and I do want to attempt it as I had a shit recovery with an EMCS. Would like to avoid that this time around.

Any advice for preparation?

I’m probably most terrified of vaginal tearing so I bought an aniball with the hopes it could help on that front. I heard tearing might be worse for VBACs ...

I did make clear I wouldn’t accept forceps and would rather go straight to CS rather than risk my pelvic floor. That seemed to have been mostly accepted.

Hi OP, I had a brilliant VBAC a few months ago. Was very nervous in the run up to it and went quite overdue which made me question my decision as I thought I might end up with a repeat section anyway so felt I might as well have done it a bit earlier on! But luckily things happened by themselves just in time and I'm so glad I went for the VBAC option as my recovery was worlds apart from my EMCS.

I did have an episiotomy but didn't find it too bad at all recovery wise and felt quickly back to normal.

In terms of prep, I didn't really do anything different or special. Like you, I considered where my limits were e.g. would I accept an induction or go straight to section at that stage and felt happier when I had a plan in place.

Good luck - I hope it works out for you and happy to answer any questions you have.
