Just wondering if ladies with upcoming ELCS are being told to isolate beforehand?

Anyone?

I haven't been told to.

Lily2020 · 07/09/2020 13:59

@niki26 thanks for replying! When are you booked in for? I'm just wondering because a relative is going in for a hip operation & has been told to isolate for 2 weeks prior

@Lily2020 it's next Monday! 14th September. I asked the consultant at 36 weeks about it and she looked thoroughly confused as to why I was even asking about isolating beforehand! My hospital are really crap though Confused

WankPuffins · 07/09/2020 14:20

I wasn’t told to, but we did (had my baby two weeks ago via elective). My area still has cases and to be honest, even symptomless it would be awful to have tested positive the day beforehand (I think it’s the norm everywhere now to have a test prior to hospital admission).

I'm due in Jan for an elc and have been told that my DH will need to self isolate for two weeks if he wants to be my birth partner, but not me

Lily2020 · 07/09/2020 14:40

I wonder If it depends on where you are / what trust you're under then? @AintOverUntilTheCatLadySings that just seems a bit pointless did they say why?

Myself and partner asked to isolate ‘as much as possible’ for 2 weeks before c section

Somethingvague · 07/09/2020 14:44

No, having a section this week. Had to have a corona test yesterday, but nothing about isolating (unless ofcourse in unlikely event it turns out to be positive).

Nope. Going to ask closer to the date.

We've got a toddler too who goes to childcare so won't be self isolating!

mistletoeprickles · 08/09/2020 06:48

I'm having an elcs in 2 weeks and havent been told too. I was worried about this as we cant afford for DH to take two week off work before the baby is born and the children have returned to school but I've heard nothing

Lily2020 · 08/09/2020 07:25

@mistletoeprickles I know I think it's really quite unfair to enforce this for the birth partner, in my case it would either mean being alone at the birth or alone for the 2 weeks following surgery 🤔 not really what you want to be worrying about is it!

OP posts:
mistletoeprickles · 08/09/2020 07:39

@Lily2020 it would of meant he could of only a week off after which would of been no use to me at all as I have two school age children who desperately need to be at school. I wouldn't of fancied 3 school runs a day a week post elcs!
Plus we would of had to keep them off for the 2 weeks prior too. After 7 months off my children need school!

Lily2020 · 08/09/2020 07:55

@mistletoeprickles total nightmare! Absolutely agree! I've a toddler in nursery too, she's loving bring back & I NEED those precious moments to myself 😂

Nope - though they booked me in for a Covid test 3 days before

violetclouds · 11/09/2020 07:45

How many weeks/days before your due dates have you been booked in for your sections ladies?

ivfbeenbusy · 11/09/2020 07:48

@violetclouds

If it's an elective c section it's normally
Booked in at your 36 week appointment to have it done around 39 weeks

I'm having twins and I've been told I'll have the c section at the latest between 37-38 weeks

I was booked in pretty early. I think before 16 weeks. Told them I wanted it at my 12 week appointment and because of previous history I had a follow up call about 14 weeks and then got a letter confirming my pre op and op dates.
