Hiya, I am 39 +5 and the last two days have felt slightly reduced movements. Last night I also went to bed with period type cramps and for the last two days I seem to be going to the loo much more (sorry tmi!). I went to the day assessment unit this morning to get checked for reduced movements and the Dr did a sweep. It actually wasn't uncomfortable at all and she said she managed to do a 'good' sweep and that my cervix was soft and about 1cm. I'm desperate for this baby to come and so just wanted to see what people's tips are to get things going and whether others have had a 'good' sweep that then led to labour!

Thanks xxxx

I had a 'good' sweep, midwife said i was 1cm. That was the afternoon of tuesday, and i went into labour wednesday night. Good luck!

I also had a "good sweep" baby's head was very low and I was 1cm. That was the morning of 40+3, I then had period type cramps and brown mucus loss (my show I guess) all through that day and 40+4 and I went into labour if the evening of 40+4 and she was born on 40+5 days. I think they do work but only if your body is already ready Smile

@Flossie333 did it work for you??

I just had a sweep at 40 + 4 this afternoon, it's my first baby so I've never experienced it before but I feel like she really really went to town 😂 it was extremely uncomfortable! I'm now in bed with a hot water bottle as I'm just so so uncomfortable, especially around my back. I didn't even think to ask if my cervix was ready or not but she did get the two fingers in I know that much! 😳
