Braxton Hicks or Contractions?!

I thought BH weren’t meant to be regular but these are very 5-6 minutes for the last 2 or so hours. Also BH stop if you change position, empty your bladder etc, well I’ve done that 3 times and they haven’t stopped. They aren’t getting stronger though, but they are regular. They aren’t particularly painful either, although I can definitely feel them. I’ve had this a few times (always in the evenings) and then they stop so must’ve been BH. So confusing!

Could go either way, how many weeks are you? Could just be taking a while for things to get going...

TwinkleStars15 · 26/08/2020 22:12

@SunInTheSkyYouKnowHowIFeel 39 weeks tomorrow, and had a sweep earlier today - think it’s cramps from that I s’pose. I got out of bed and came downstairs to sit on my ball and see if they’d get going, but doesn’t look like they will so might go back to bed and try and get some sleep!

Good idea, get some test and you'll hopefully know by morning, if you had a sweep then perhaps that's bringing labour on... Smile Good luck!!

@TwinkleStars15 sounds like the start to me! How did you get on over night and this morning?

TwinkleStars15 · 27/08/2020 08:05

@MrsCl19 oh they lasted about 4 hours, every 6/7 minutes until I finally fell asleep. My tummy feels very sore and achy this morning and still having the odd one every now and then. It’s been going on for 7 nights now, but last night was definitely the most noticeable, and longest. It’s so confusing as my last pregnancy I had none of this, she just appeared after a short 7 hour labour (first baby)

@TwinkleStars15 ahhh 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 Baby makes an appearance soon! With my dd I had a sweep at 41 weeks which kickstarted some painless BH which lasted a day or so and then the real thing started

Hopefully you'll have a quick labour once established 🤞🏼

@MrsCl19 I hope so, I’ve been having these for a week now, since my first sweep last Wednesday. Last nights were much more intense though. You’re not the only person who has said it might be a faster delivery, so I hope you’re right!

Ah I was hoping baby twinkle had made an appearance overnight... ah well, it'll come in its own time and all of that....

Did the midwife say what position your baby was in when they did the sweep?

IncrediblySadToo · 27/08/2020 16:38

How are you doing now?

TwinkleStars15 · 27/08/2020 18:18

Still pregnant! I think I’m having Prodromal Labour, as the contractions are definitely stronger and more intense that Braxton Hicks, but not strong enough to be ‘proper’ contractions. They are regular but don’t get stronger or closer together. So strange. Anyway, I can feel them starting again so let’s see what tonight brings!

@SunInTheSkyYouKnowHowIFeel head down, 3/5th engaged, laying to the right. I’m not convinced baby isn’t back to back with all this though.
