stretch and sweep

hi guys i'm 40+4 and had my first stretch and sweep today my midwife told me that the bottom of my cervix is open but the top is still closed she massaged it a bit couple hours later i lost a lot of my plug. has this ever happened to anyone else and labour has started? i'm a bit confused to how the bottom is open but the top is still closed, will the s&s being effective or not?

I started to lose my plug after my first sweep. Went on to have 3 more sweeps and was induced so sadly not a sign anything is imminent!! Good luck though, won't be much longer either way!

Went into labour after my second sweep (went from 2cm to 8cm in 3 hours). If your plug is coming out quite a lot then that's a good sign that it's working! Good luck, labour is tough but amazing ❤️
