How long after a sweep did you go into labour?

Hi,

I'm currently 38 weeks and this morning I was giving a sweep while visiting the hospital for reduced movements (sencond time). While doing the sweep the doctor mentioned that I was already 2-3cm dilated.

I was wondering what your experience was with sweeps. I was also offered an induction and aren't sure whether to wait for the sweep or go for the induction.

Thanks!

Sweep at 12:30, first niggle 14:15, waters went 18:30, born 19:55 (20 minutes after getting to hospital) and he was my first. But I was a week overdue. Just like his dad, late for everything, then arrives in a hurry!

I was full term, had sweep on Thursday morning and went into labour early hours on the Saturday morning and three hours later he was born!
Second baby.

First did nothing- although i was told my cervix was favourable (If I remember rightly) and second I started having contractions the day after, after being 2cm at the time of sweep.

2 weeks, an induction and a c-section but then I never got passed 1cm dilated

My first sweep didn’t work.
Second sweep and contractions kicked off within the hour.

Two sweeps but no action. I did then have a lovely induction though which I thought would be awful but it wasn't.

Midwife said if it worked, it would be within 48 hours. She was right, waters broke 40 hours later. That was the third one though, first two caused a few cramps but only for a couple of hours.

About three hours.

About 5 hours

2 sweeps and nothing

48 hours from sweep to birth

I had one with DD2 and it didn’t do anything.

I have had one today with DD3 and am feeling very crampy in the back so we will see.

My labour was more long than anything else. I was due on the Sunday 30th august 2015, I was booked in for a sweep originally on the Wednesday, but I started having contractions on the Tuesday so I decided to see if things would progress naturally. They didn't so I ended up having a sweep at 3pm on the Friday (40+5).
I got to the hospital at 9 that evening, was in the birth centre by 10.30, had my waters broken around 2am, then gave birth at 6.58am the Saturday morning (40+6).
It didn't hurt or feel uncomfortable at all and it did help move things along (the head wasn't fully engaged so things wouldn't have progressed on their own).
If I’m honest I was more physically exhausted after 4 days and nights of contractions. I think if I hadn’t been so tired I would have dealt with it better.

Thanks guys! Had one yesterday but not had any contractions yet, might have to go in for the induction...
