Feel like I’ve been hit by a bus!

I’m 39+1 with DC2. My DS1 was born at 42 weeks and I woke in the middle of the night with contractions.

The last two mornings I’ve woken hourly during the night and been awake since 4 am. Dull cramps that come and go but not amounting to anything with some back pain. I just generally feel like I’ve been hit by a bus. Achey, tired, a bit lacklustre in general.

Did anyone else’s labours start like this?

That was me with my second, but I got a spurt of energy mid morning and cleaned the house top to bottom (I couldn’t believe it from how I felt in the AM), cramps got worse took a bath. Didn’t improve phoned hospital went in for a check (my first birth was fast) and he popped out 45 mins later

@emmaluggs thanks for the quick reply. I’ve already had a bath. Just taken my temp in case I’m just ill but it’s normal. Yeh I can’t imagine going feeling like this to cleaning! I did clean the downstairs bathroom at 4:30am yesterday mind. DS1 was a 24 hour labour so hoping it’s not a repeat!

Yes, for about a week-10 days before dd (second baby)was born. No sleep, knackered, Braxton Hicks, aching etc. I felt like shit! It was also very inconvenient as we had to keep putting my sister on 'stand by' as she was going to look after ds whilst I gave birth, I felt so rough I was sure that I was going into labour. In the end there was no mistaking actual labour, I woke to a massive contraction at midnight and she was born 5 hours later, nice easy birth and home for tea.
If you're worried you could call your labour ward?

@InDubiousBattle oh my goodness that’s a long time! We’re exactly the same; sister on standby. To be fair I think I’ve been feeling a bit off for about a week but definitely worse the last two days. After waiting an extra 2 weeks for DS1 I know it’s just a matter of time but man, bearing in mind a nice pregnancy this is a rubbish way to end it.
