Can’t say much about the fluid retention although I had horrendous sweats for about two weeks after my baby and I had minimal retention but was mostly flipping hormonal sweats so dare say it will clear within a few weeks! As for stitches depends really on the tear or if it is due to an epi it depends on how deep the episiotomy was. I had a deep 2nd degree perineal tear, internal and external. And also labial tears. The labial tears healed in about 10 days. The perineum tear felt much better after 2-3 weeks although the underlying muscle was still sore if I nudged it or say the wrong way and if I’m honest a little bit tender but only if I’m intimate with my husband.... this is even after four months but it’s much better. Loads of salt baths and try to keep as clean as you can when your still bleeding. I would have lay down on a puppy pad and allowed air around the wounds every day after a bath. Use warm water each time you go to the toilet also x

It took me about 3 weeks to get rid of all the excess fluid I had pumped in to me during labour & in high dependency, my feet were so big I couldn't get my slippers or shoes on, I had to come home in trainers with no laces in. Try to put your feet on a pile of pillows higher than your heart as much as you can or wear flight socks.

I went to surgery after my first and blew up like a balloon. Water retention went down within a week... I did drink buckets of water a day though. I was stitched to within an inch of my life internally. Most dissolved within a month. The knot/end of stitch line took about 10-12 weeks but wasn’t painful.

This time I am 37 weeks and can barely get any shoes on...wish me luck!

Hope you get a rest and deflate 😅

Thanks ladies, I also got taken for surgery for placenta removal and was already 4 stone up with pregnancy weight and water, I had about a millions bags of fluid on IV, and also had second degree perineal tear. I'm spritzing for bitzing and aloe wiping each loo trip to keep cool and clean and drinking tonnes of water, also wearing the god awful support stockings in this heat 😭🥰 good luck with your second!

I lost 6 stone from when I went in to have ds to a month later, i was size 16/18 prepregnancy & went down to a size 12/14 when he was a month old.

Jesus @Nat6999 I'm hoping it doesn't take a month as I feel I'm going to explode but 6 stone would be amazing. I was about a 14 pre preg and now about a 20 so roughly the same difference as yourself. I'm sweating so bad but I'm so happy about it because I just want it all out of me!
