Bloody show/mucus plug

Any advice or opinions welcome :)

I went to my 39 week appointment yesterday and had a sweep. My midwife seemed really shocked and used the words 'I don't know how you're not already in labour' I was 3cm and 50% effaced. When she did a sweep she was able to stretch me to 5cm! She also felt babies head and could feel my waters bulging.
Last night I had a bloody show at about 7pm then another at about 10pm and all night I've lost a LOT of stringy, 'snot' like discharge and then it's been streaky pink discharge this morning.
I think I'm experiencing early contractions but they're mostly in my back and very irregular, can you labour mostly in your back or should I expect them to migrate round the front before getting excited that I'm in labour?

Just any advice or opinions welcome as I'm a FTM and new to this!

Thank you :)

With my first, my contractions were all in my back but he was back to back.. do you know how your baby is lying?
I hope your labour progresses soon!! 🎉

@Ginblooded I believe she's the right way! Her back runs down my tummy which is good news. I've never suffered period cramps and always had issues with my back in the past so maybe it's just because of that! There's nothing regular happening yet :( very irregular contractions so far unfortunately!

I lost my plug at the start of the week, it was a big blob of yellowy snot like ness, lovely!
Went into labour on the Thursday and had a bloody show at 5cm which just looked like mucousy bleeding. All my contractions were in my back and pelvis area, like being really sharply constipated or trapped wind, none in my stomach 🤞

My first labour was all back pain. No recollection of stomach pain at all.

How did it go? Did baby come yet? 👀 il he shocked if no. Sounds like bubba is making an appearance very soon from what your midwife said and your show !! Contractions can be so irregular at first!!

@wannabemummy123 as is probably obvious from the very late reply baby made an appearance morning of Sunday 16th! Had such a quick and wonderful labour, bloody amazing!
