Bleeding after c-section

Can I ask what other people's experiences of this have been please?

I had an ELCS 13 days ago and have had very little bleeding since then - a very small amount in hospital, spotting for a day or 2 then nothing at all for about 8 or 9 days.

I've mentioned this lack of blood several times to the community midwives but they just dismissed it saying I must have been well cleared out in surgery.

Today, I've definitely over done it and went for a lie down due to abdominal pain and cramls. When I got up I felt a gush and there is blood everywhere (I got cocky at the lack of blood so wasn't wearing a pad). It's hard to say how much but it looks a lot and it's bright red.

Should I be concerned or is it normal? (FTM so clueless)

I didn't want to read and run OP. I think you should have this checked out again.

I've had three sections and bled with all three for several weeks after.

Congratulations on your new arrival.

I am not medically qualified in any way, so please don't take this as medical advice ...

I have had three c sections. The first two I bled like a normal but prolonged period, for a few weeks.

The last section, I had hardly any blood at all. Like you, I kept telling the midwives/GP and they all seemed unconcerned. I had two or three unexpected floods when lying down/sleeping after overdoing things, though they were also fairly low in volume I think - just a gush, soggy pants, but nothing more once I'd got to the loo and cleaned up.

I am 4 months on now and everything is fine.

The advice I was given when sent home from the hospital was to seek help if filling two pads per hour. Even with the gushes, there was no way I was anywhere near that level of bleeding.

I think it's perfectly possible to have a section and hardly any bleeding afterwards.

With my second section, it was a bit like this. I stopped bleeding after a week - which surprised me as I’d bled for 3 weeks after my first. Ten days later the bleeding started again and carried on for maybe 5 weeks!

I’ve had 2 sections and I bled for 3ish weeks after both of them .

First time I bled for 6 weeks, second time 9 days, with another couple of days at the three week mark.

I'd mention it to an HCP if you're concerned.
