Loosing my amniotic fluid ?

Hi

I’m 39+4 had pains throughout tues morning from 01:00-06:30 af type and lower back pain.

I was getting excited but believe it was just false labour.

Anyway for the last week or so I have lost a little bit of fluid especially after emptying my bladder. It has trickled down my leg etc and I’ve no control of it.
I’ve started with pains again in my lower back, pain in my bum and lower af cramps again, and when baby was moving last night it was really really uncomfortable. I went to the toilet at 3am
And it felt like someone had turned on a tap it just felt different to peeing normally, after I’ve done I’ve stood up and again lost water down my leg which doesn’t smell nor is of colour. Put a pad on and I don’t have anything this morning in my pad.

Anyway I’ve rang hospital explained absolutely everything and they’ve said they’d only be able to know if I was examined which I obviously know that.. but they don’t think it’s necessary I go in. Which has tbh annoyed me, as I’ve been reading about loosing your hind waters etc.

Has anyone had this ? X

Hi Op, didn't want to read and run. Congratulations on your pregnancy and whilst I haven't been in your exact situation, during my second trimester I was worried that I was leaking amniotic fluid, went to the GP and she thought it was urine (sorry tmi) but for me it did feel a bit different to normal pee which is why I was so worried.

I ended up buying some pads from Boots which coudl detect whether liquid was urine or amniotic fluid by changing colour depending on which one it was. This helped me put my mind at ease, I don't know if it would be useful for you too given you are so close to due date? I think they were called amniotic sense or something like that.

I'm sure there will be some more helpful responses coming along and I wish you the best with the rest of your pregnancy.

i think you should go in and be checked.

Hi guys

Well I’ve had a pad on all day and nothing so left it. Until these evening had a trickle again so rang triage same was said but to ring back if any leaks into my knickers.

Around 6pm baby was moving and wowzers I had so much pressure felt I needed loo which I did but it hurt so much to poop sorry tmi

I just felt everything was going to fall out and as soon as he’s moved my uterus was tightening and quite sharp.

Got in bath and couldn’t lay down.

Now been on bed half hour got up to pee n couldn’t stand straight cos of pressure, rang triage again as Also had wet knickers definitely not urine.. to be told the same thing maybe early labour!!! Yes I get that’s probably the case but why not ask me to come in just to check. I’m starting to feel a little upset now

Sorry for long post

just seen this - good luck it sounds like things are moving along, if so, hope all goes well for you!

Definitely sounds like labour. If you want to be checked then ring but and tell them that if they are not helpful ask them to get their pma or most senior midwife on duty to ring you back. Normally if your waters go before labour they like to confirm as there is a risk of infection if you don’t go into labour.
