Maternity hospital in Newcastle

I must be mad but I have tickets for a concert in Newcastle (at Northumbria University) @ 39+2 which I may or may not be going to.

Just in case, I thought I'd better look into the hospitals in Newcastle and find out which would be the best one to head for in case I have to go in pdq. It'll be my second so time might be more of the essence.

We will have a car and I can print off directions & phone number in advance "just in case"!

I may also have the option of driving 1.5 hrs to Carlisle, but I am planning to give birth in Whitehaven, West Cumbria instead of Carlisle anyway so not sure it's worth the mad dash just be to be closer to home.

Hopefully this won't all be necessary, but it's important to be prepared! Dd was 2 days early but I'm not going to put my life on hold waiting as I'll be pretty fed up if I go 14 days over!

RVI- is where the maternity and baby units are. That's also close to northumbria Uni. Had my ds there- they are great!!! I was also 2 weeks overdue (was spontaneous labour though!) so I would recomend going to the concert if you haven't had the baby before then!!

Yep. The RVI is just around the corner from Northumbria Uni. I used to work there while I was a student and ds1 was also born there.

RVI is closest - about 10 mins walk max

Is that 10 minutes WITH contractions?

Have looked RVI up and it's got Baby Friendly status too like the hospital I'm planning to give birth at, so looks good all round! Cheers.
