VBAC Past due date - c section?

I'm planning on a VBAC and my due date is tomorrow. I'm due to have a sweep at my midwife appt tomorrow.
My consultant has said that I could be allowed to get to 40+12 before they would want to intervene. All the way through pregnancy I was told they don't like to induce labour after a previous C section and tbh, after reading peoples experiences of inductions I wouldn't want to be induced.
Then last time I saw consultant he told me that enough time has passed since my previous section (3.5years) for me to be able to be induced. I told him I didn't want to be, which he said was fine.
He's going to call me tomorrow to tell him a date that I want to be booked in for a c section, if I haven't gone into labour spontaneously by 40+12. He said it's my decision as to how long I want to leave it up until this point.
Has anyone been in this situation? I'm not sure what to tell him. I want to give myself the best possible chance of VBAC, but 12 days past due date seems like a long time!

I am in a very similar situation to yourself. My due date is today and am planning for a VBAC however I've given myself a week to try and get into labour. My c section is booked in for just after 41 weeks. I'm telling myself I won't have to wait that long but my last one went 40 +12 so I really don't know. Shock

I had a VBAC and decided to hold off on induction until 41+5. I went at 41 weeks spontaneously. But if baby was happy and placenta was fine I would have continued to the end of 42 weeks x

I also refused to be induced by using drugs due to the higher rate of uterine rupture so agreed on rupture of membranes and if this didn’t work then I would have gone for another section x

Thanks for these. It's a tough situation to be in. Especially at the moment! I really want to try and avoid c section - longer hospital stay and husband won't be allowed to come and spend time with us at the hospital. He'd be sent home soon after and not allowed back until he picked us up. Plus longer recovery time etc. But I also definitely don't want to be induced!
I had a sweep today. Well, attempted sweep, but my cervix was still posterior so it wasn't successful. I've got another sweep booked for 41 weeks and decided I'll give myself to 12 days past due date before I'd have to have another section. So lots of pineapple, dates, walking and birthing ball from now on!
