Birth certificate incorrect

kb16 · 20/07/2020 20:43

My baby was born during lockdown and we recently registered her, ive just noticed on the birth certificate the registrar has signed babies dads name as mother and my name as father
Does this make the birth certificate invalid or does it not matter as it has myself as mother and dad as father at the top?
Thanks Smile

I'd ring and ask tomorrow.

ah so the form entries themselves are correct, but the registrar signing on behalf of you wrote the wrong names in the signatures boxes.

I think its important for birth certificates to be accurate so yes it is worth checking. it could cause problems years later, best to get it sorted now.

We went to a local registrar and the birth certificate, when it arrived typed up later spelt a name wrong. We phoned up and I remember we received a new birth certificate...

Ring up and they should replace it for free as its a clerical error on their behalf - may cause problems later down the line particularly if your wean ever wants to immigrate as they can reallt scrutinise certificates (although that said the US immigration missed the bit that said my 7 year old brother was female Grin)

Definitely ring and get it sorted now. Do not wait.
