Stickiness from C/S dressing - get off me!

How do you get the stickiness from the C/S dressing off? It is driving me nuts. It's more of a pain than the actual scar. It's sticking the tops of my thighs to my lower abdomin - nice!

I've tried soap and scrubbing - still there! Help!

Try rubbing a bit of vaseline into it and then wiping off with cotton wool.

Naboo - not very nice but i resorted to lighter fluid . It works and I bathed straigt after.

foxinsocks · 29/09/2007 19:45

you can get these wipes from the chemist called Zoff wipes. They wipe off all the stickiness really easily (and you can use them for kids and the sticky stuff the plaster leave behind).

Whatever you do, don't accidentally wipe the wound with it. It REALLY stings!

themadhouse - you made me laugh. you must have been desperate to set yourself on fire... it's alcohol based, so i think i'll try a bit of vodka or something tonight, then get some 'sodoff wipes' which foxinsocks recommended. I'm reaching for the vaseline too. It is seriously driving me nuts. I move my finger over the area and my arm stops - because i'm actually stuck to my self! Aaah!

thanks so much for the advise. i love mumsnet.

Naboo, it kept sticking to my knickers or my nighty. I hated it. I also had it all over my arms where the plasters etc had been on. So zippo lighter fluid it was. Funny thing is I actually liked the smell of stuff like that when I was pregnant

nail varnish remover - but be careful not to get it anywhere near to your scar or it will sting like buggery (don't ask how I know that !)

paolosgirl · 29/09/2007 22:01

Baby oil - I'm sure I read somewhere that works...

prufrock · 29/09/2007 22:10

WD40 - but agai it's a last resort thing and don't get it near the scar. It cleared mine after baby oil, baby wipes and "sticky stuff remover" (yes there is a product called that) all failed

Naboo - How are you this morning - all stuck up still?

foxinsocks · 30/09/2007 10:26

if you can get to the chemist (or get someone to go for you!), the Zoff wipes are specifically designed for this. Poor you - what a pain!

Hello all - not been on line as i've been TOO STICKYYYYYYYY to type. I'll only get stuck to the keyboard. I used nailvarnish remover tonight, which has helped a bit. It rolled up into little balls which i now can't get off my fingers or my knickers. Brilliant. They don't tell you about this do they?!! I wish i'd known about those wipes beforehand - i'm going to get some anyway.
