Hi all! My midwife just called to tell my that I’m anaemic and there my haemoglobin level is 9.7. Is this good or bad? What will it mean for how I give birth (will I not be allowed ELCS for eg?). Can it pass onto baby?

Has your me prescribed you some ferrous sulphate? Make sure you drink lots of fresh orange and eat lots that will help you go to the loo. They may test your blood again in a few weeks check it's going up

You will still be allowed a c section and it won't pass to baby but speak to your midwife about optimising your hb in preparation. My hospital does monofer infusions and ideally they are done before 38 weeks as it gives it time to work. Not sure of the hb threshold for this but might be something to ask midwife about. I also second ferrous sulphate for an at home thing it can be bought in pharmacies.
