Birthing Centres in London

Hi there,

I'm trying to decide where to have my baby and I'm really keen on a waterbirth in a birthing centre (if possible). I live near a bunch of central London hospitals - but due to covid we can't go and see any of the birth centres.

I wondered if anyone had had experiences of any of the following birth centres:

Queen Charlottes,
Chelsea & Westminster,
UCLH
Royal Free
Whittington

Would love to hear your experiences at any of the above hospitals, and with the midwives during your antenatal care and whether or not you were able to access a birthing pool during labour..

Many thanks! Smile

I had a great experience in the Uclh birth centre - it was quiet, I got taken to a pool room straight away, they also have a private room to recover in after your moved from the ‘pool room’. I think there is a video on YouTube that will give you a virtual tour!

Re midwife appointments if you book them the same day ie on Tuesdays, the birth centre midwives do appointments - so I saw the same midwife for my last 3 appointments which was nice continuity.
