Need some help to find a good maternity underwear!

Hi everyone! I came across this maternity underwear brand that has a pouch in the perineal area to hold an ice pack to cool the area after giving birth (with stitches and all). Do you think it’s worth buying? Has anyone used it and found it effective? It’s 26 pounds, too pricey? I’m thinking if it's comfortable, I can even wear after the postpartum bleeding, did anyone wear maternity underwear for long after the period? How many would I need to buy? What features should I look for? Please suggest some good maternity underwear in the market. Many thanks in advance! :)

Considering I had 20 stitches I wasnt too sore down below. I just bought some knickers from asda in which ever size fit my bump at the time. I was absolutely huge so I got some big buggers but my god they were comfy. In my opinion I wouldn't bother with fancy knickers. I still wear them now 17 weeks later but have to keep pulling them up. They were full briefs and I think they were 5 pairs for £4 absolute bargain. The majority I've thrown away because it's not pretty when you bleed daily. I was changing my maternity pad every 2 hours. Good luck x

Hi! Thank you for sharing! Just to confirm did you have 2 or 20 stitches? 20 seem very painful 😖

20 but honestly I was fine. He tore all my muscle inside and then that piece of skin between bum and flu. I think stitches inside hurt less or so I've been told. Having a first poo on the other hand was not pleasant. We were in for 5 days afterwards and I'd been gearing myself up all day for this poo and tried to time it for when husband was here anyway I couldn't wait. Luckily I was in private room. I waited until baby was asleep then went to toilet and was literally pushing to gently then the doctor walks in and rather than wait outside he stays in the room. I'm on the other side if the wall absolutely sweating. Full thinking of it now. X

I don’t think it’s worth it because you’d need loads of pairs - obviously you wear pads but honestly it’s grim so you keep changing your pants as well. I had stitches both times - no idea how many - but I was lucky and felt fine without doing anything special, I’ve heard people saying to put witch hazel on pads and freeze them though which I guess would be a similar effect to the expensive pants.

Actually now that I think about it, I don’t think the cooling pad on the fancy pants would do much good because you’d have a big maternity pad inside the pants... I was going to say you could make your own by wearing 2 pairs of pants and putting a cool pad in between but yeah kindof pointless unless you’d stopped bleeding.

I personally wore my pre-maternity underwear throughout pregnancy as they still fit and sat comfortably under the bump. Granted I knew I was having an elective section but remember you could end up with one even if planning a vaginal delivery so I wouldn’t waste money on something tailored specifically for a VB, especially when they are £26 a pair Shock and you’ll be bleeding all over it. For afterwards I got some high waisted black cotton pants, I think from M&S, that we’re breathable and the crucially the waistband say above the scar. Bleeding for me was no heavier than a period and once the catheter was out I used slim sanitary towels rather than maternity pads.

Thanks for sharing! Didn't think I would need to change underwear so many times😓 but what about when the belly starts shrinking? Won't the underwear be loose?
