Hi all🄰

Being induced start of next week at 39 weeks, looking for some positive induction stories.. i.e is it possible to have a quick induction rather than it drag on for days as a FTM, is there hope they could break waters without 24 hour priming stage etc.. not to be unrealistic just more upbeat stories than what I have read so far, they all read absolutely awful 🄓

Thanks šŸ¤—

Hi I had my baby this week after being induced at 38+2. It did take 3 days to get me into labour but it wasn’t awful just boring! It depends if they can break your waters at every stage. I just tried to stay active so took my ball in and did lots of walks around the hospital!

I was induced at 39w, FTM. Pessary at 9.30am, spent the day listening to the radio and crocheting, waters broke by themselves at 10.45pm, baby arrived at 4am. I had one lot of paracetamol and dihydrocodeine, and some gas and air. All perfectly fine and not at all awful! Best of luck.

First time mum here. I got put straight on the drip as waters broke 24 hours prior. No sign of baby. Had the drip put in at 1445 and baby arrive 1910. He flew out. Good luck x

Baby 1: long and boring induction at 38weeks. Took 3 days but it was fine.

Baby 2. Induction ward at 39 weeks, didn't even need a pessary in the end - had a sweep and went in to labour naturally a few hours later. Very easy and positive birth, lovely experience.

I hope i go in and there like what a fab cervix you have i can break your waters now, put the drip up... have a lovely epidural and fire the baby out in a few hours and have a chippy on the way home 🤣🤣 I mean its not that unrealistic is it HA HA!!

Hi just reading this thread as I am due to be induced tomorrow. I am 40+4 and this is my 2nd baby. First was born very quickly at home unexpectedly. I am really struggling with the thought of possibly being in hospital for 3 days alone. I didn't want any intervention and now I am reading horror stories of being in hospital 5 days, use of forceps and possible c section. I just keep crying I just don't want any of that. I shouldn't be but I am genuinely heartbroken by the thought of this. Please tell me something positive about induction because I haven't seen anything positive yet

Apples6544 · 23/06/2020 12:36

@crazybutkind my baby is a week old today, I had a long induction in that i was in for 3 days but actual labour was 6 hours from start of drip to baby. Like you I was really anxious about interventions but I just tried to stay active and was able to have a normal delivery. You’ve just got to go with it. I put a playlist on and just tried to relax as much as I could to help things along. Good luck!

crazybutkind · 23/06/2020 12:39

@Apples6544 can I ask how come you had to stay in 3 days if labour was quick? Did it take a while for labour to start? X

Apples6544 · 23/06/2020 12:41

@crazybutkind Yeah I had 2 lots of 24 hour pessary then a 6 hour one went in Saturday morning and they couldn’t break my waters until 2am Tuesday morning. X

FirstTM2020 · 23/06/2020 17:34

@Apples6544 this is a bit personal sorry!! Dont answer if you dont want to... what was your cervix like on arrival? Was it closed and long and hard that you had to have 2 pecessarys ? Xx

OP posts:
Apples6544 · 23/06/2020 17:42

Yeah completely closed, only after the 3 pessarys did I get to 1cm and a doctor just managed to break my waters as the midwife couldn’t. I was 38+2 and literally no signs of being ready for labour 😬x

FirstTM2020 · 23/06/2020 17:59

@Apples6544 aw that must have been so frustrating for you 🄓 i was examined on arrival and was 1cm so hoping this 24 hr pecessary gets me to 3cm as they said once i reach that they will break my waters šŸ¤·šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø xxx
