Labour seems to have just 'stopped' - what do I do now??

Hello, the day before my due date, I had regular contractions (but not too painful, just tight)about 10 minutes apart, I was 2cm dialated, had the shivers and (excuse me)the runs.. That night everything stopped. The next day i did alot of walking and the contractions were 5 minutes apart. But the Dr sent me home as I wasn't very dialated. Since then, I have had NOTHING. Nada. I can sometimes feel the babies head down below, but the contractions have gone completely. I'm now 40 + 4 days. Sex last night didn't work either..Here in Luxembourg they only allow you to go over by a week, so I don't have much more time to avoid an inducement. Can someone please help me with advice on what I can do (other than even more walking) to speed things up, and is this big quiet gap normal??

Thinking of you Pendulum, you'll be too busy now!

Bah humbug, am still here in same position as you now Luxmum... contractions receded and nothingm uch happening, just v uncomfortable. Just seen midwife who is unfazed and happy that baby's HR is strong, position is LOA and all seems to be going well. I declined her offer of a sweep because I would rather let things take their natural course. But please... let it be soon.... I am tired and DH is even more so!!

How did your appt go Luxmum? We might be labour buddies after all!

What Lulu said!

but with a good brisk walk thrown in for good measure (just don't overdo it), and then some pampering and spoiling from DH!

and more REST! feed little and often to keep energy levels up and keep well hydrated. Being dehydrated will put labour off too. Also make sure that you pee regular!

Have wee covered everything?

oh yes, REST!!!

And lots and lots of laughter! Opening your orifices is catching, cos when one is open they all open! So get a good comedy on the telly tonight!

Lulu, my heads in the bin! I'm assuming it's the birth story you need and any follow up? I can't recall now who I've told what and when... sorry
