Hot water bottle or heat pack allowed

I have had a baby before but was induced and then had an epidural at 7cm. When I was experiencing the surges I remember thinking a hot water bottle would help. Would it be possible To fill it up with hot water in hospital. If I got some sort of heat pack, would a microwave be available?

Hey, im a nurse within the NHS and theres a policy on hot water bottles, not allowed to heat them up for patients ☹️ (i think its a crap policy i love a hot water bottle) xx

I took a hot water bottle with my during labour and the midwives did fill it for me.
Standing under a hot shower was also great, I was in there for hours!

My trust provided a heat pack. When it cooled down, they heated it back up in the microwave. It was heavenly. Shame it was only good for a few uses. I'd have loved to have taken it home with me.

I also work for said trust. There is also a policy of not using or filling up hot water bottles for patients.
