Being induced today!!

Just that really 😳 scared!! 38+2, went in for reduced movements on Thursday night, scan yesterday found that babys growth had slowed so I’m being induced today!! Have people found a tens machine to be any use during induction? I know that the contractions can be more full force rather than building!

Good luck how exciting. I was induced last year and it was obviously hard work but i only had 2 hours of active labour so can't complain too much! I didn't use a tens it all happened so fast that I couldn't think straight and only had time for gas and air. Next time I would definitely consider a tens as soon as I felt pain!

My waters were broken with DD2. Was classed as an induction but due to placenta problems I couldn't have a drug induced. It was more intense but compared to my natural labour with DD1 it was a far better birth experience overall and when induced i found they seemed alot happier and quicker to give me pain relief. I had a epidural but I gave birth straight after they done it so it never took effect

They both sound like good experiences! Thanks guys!! X

How was it OP?

Apples6544 · 14/06/2020 23:17

Hi! Still going 😅 on my second pessary, been walking as much as I can and bouncing on the ball but no progress so far 😬x

@Apples6544 I'm currently being induced too! Have had second pessary (6 hour ones not the 24 hour ones) and I'm all ready to have my waters broken... but there's no room on the delivery unit and 6 people in front of me 🤦🏼‍♀️ so might be a long wait! I'm going to ask if I can go home this morning for them to call me instead and hope my waters go on their own

Apples6544 · 15/06/2020 05:39

@thosethreewords oh you’re doing better than me! That sounds like a good idea! Hope they let you 😊 I’m already on delivery but my pessarys have been the 24 hour ones and still no signs this morning 😬 good luck for the rest of the day!! X

Good luck, I hope everything goes well Flowers

20viona · 15/06/2020 08:31

Can they break your waters? Hopefully today is the day!

Whenwilllifebenormal · 15/06/2020 08:33

Good luck. As painful as it is, soon you’ll be holding your gorgeous baby in your arms. I hope today goes well Smile

Dyra · 15/06/2020 08:43

Good luck to both of you!

Apples6544 · 15/06/2020 10:19

Thank you! I’ll be examined this evening to see if they can break my waters 🤞🏼🤞🏼 Lots of ball bouncing and laps round the hospital 😬

Oooh this brings back memories! I had 3 pessaries with absolutely zero progress. At 4pm I was going out the door of the ward heading to Costa with my husband so we could discuss whether to say yes to a c-section as they were due to ask us at 6pm - waters broke EVERYWHERE (poor lovely ward receptionist) with a massive pop and that was that! Baby arrived at 10 15pm after an incredibly intense but very short labour, which I would take again any time over a drawn out affair. Good luck OP, your little one may surprise you yet!

mummymummymummummum · 15/06/2020 21:09

I hope all is going well @Apples6544. 😊

Apples6544 · 15/06/2020 21:50

Hi 😊 have had 2x 24 hour pessarys and now have the 6 hour tablet, baby’s head is very low but they’ve not been able to break waters as of yet! Next examination is 2am and I’ve been bouncing like mad because I do not want a catheter induction 😭 pray for me!! 😂🤞🏼

Best of luck OP. I'm envious of the newborn cuddles you'll soon be having!

Jennyz123 · 15/06/2020 22:03

Oh wow I bet you are shattered- there is not much sleep to be had on the induction ward. And are you getting constant 'is the baby here yet?' queries from family?? This bit is rubbish but it will all be worth it when that little hand curls round your finger. Wishing you all the very best 🙂

ttigerlilly · 15/06/2020 22:06

Good luck OP ThanksThanksThanks

Dyra · 16/06/2020 15:46

Hope all is going well with your inductions, @Apples6544 and @thosethreewords.

Apples6544 · 16/06/2020 21:43

Hi thank you so much everyone for well wishes, my waters were finally broken at 2am this morning, I was already having regular but not very intense contractions so given just over 4 hours to progress naturally. Unfortunately cervix was still only 1cm at 7am so I had to go on the drip. I’d done my research on pain relief and in an ideal world only wanted to use gas and air so was really trying to pace myself, begged finally for gas and air at 12 lunchtime and baby Mia Rose was born at 13:07 weighing 6lb 10 💗 definitely took the midwives by surprise as they weren’t even planning to examine me again until 3pm 😂😳 baby girl has been a dream and we were discharged straight from labour ward 5 hours after she was born! Thanks again and hope anyone else is having a good experience too! 🥰

Congrats! Lovely name x

Hodge85 · 16/06/2020 22:20

Congratulations @Apples6544! How did you find the drip? Was it manageable with gas and air? x

Dyra · 16/06/2020 22:32

Congratulations! Your body was not hanging around on the drip! And to do it without even gas and air for all but the final hour.... Enjoy your little bundle. 🥰

mummymummymummummum · 16/06/2020 23:09

💜 congratulations! Well done Mumma xx

Apples6544 · 17/06/2020 05:10

@Hodge85 the drip actually slowed my contractions down to begin with, but increased the intensity, I managed quite well for about 4 hours with just standing/ rocking as I got a contraction, then for an hour I did feel very sick and was kneeling on the bed before I cried and asked for gas. Think because it’s my first baby i just assumed that it would continue to be worse when actually I was nearly there!
