Tummy feels tight

Hi,

39+3 weeks today and I've had on and off cramping for the past couple of weeks. Baby is super low and engaged and for the past 24 hours my tummy has just felt really tight, which has been uncomfortable. My back has also been killing me, more the middle upper part.

Apart from that, no other symptoms, except body having a clear out and sudden bursts of energy to tidy up.

I'm off to see the midwife today where she mentioned last time that she would offer me a sweep today. I was just wondering if anyone else has had a tight tummy like this? It's constant, it does not come and goes. x

I'm a week behind you and exactly the same and have been for a few days. I had a CTG yesterday for reduced movements and they confirmed the tightenings are contractions. I'm just doing lots of bouncing on the ball, eating dates, raspberry leaf tea, nipple stimulation/ expressing colostrum and probably going to make curry for tea!

I would imagine the tightness if there all the time it's babys position.

My labour did start with painless tightenings that came and went though

How did it go with the midwife?

@MrsCl19 the tightenings have gone and I can't have a sweep until I'm 40 weeks so booked in for that next Tuesday. My due date is Saturday, eager for baby to appear now!

Ahhh @Hodge85 I don't blame you' my dd kept my waiting 9 extra days 🤣

@MrsCl19 9 extra days!!! Oh my lord, I can't even think about it The midwife said she'd book me in for an induction if no baby by next week. Really just hope the sweep works if he's not here by then x

@Hodge85 I had a sweep on the Wednesday and she arrived Friday night! It moved it along for me!
