Anyone else due within the next week?

Hi,

I'm 39+1 and my due date is next Saturday 13th, I can't believe I can actually say that now! I'm so excited to meet my baby boy, he will be my first and I'm so in love with him already ❤️

I'm definitely in the uncomfortable stage now though, I've had menstrual cramping on and off for the past couple of weeks now so I spend half an hour a day on my birthing ball and take the dog for 2 walks a day. I'm seeing the midwife on Tuesday so hopefully she'll offer me a sweep. Baby's head was engaged at my last appointment and I can feel he's really low down but not had any other signs. I think I'm just getting impatient now.

Anyone else in the same boat? x

Me, I'm the same! I'm due on 13th too, don't know if it's a boy or girl yet though!!

I had a sweep on Wednesday evening and lost my plug but no other progress. I'm trying everything, spend hours bouncing on my ball every day, walking etc. I'm getting impatient now, I'm so excited to meet baby!! Really hope I don't go late haha.

As much as I have genuinely LOVED being pregnant and feel blessed to go through this journey, I'm constantly aching and in pain now so I'm more than ready for the next chapter.

Hope things happen for you soon xx

Hodge85 · 07/06/2020 08:39

Aww @ 1stmummaSD I've heard that sweeps don't necessarily work but at least you've lost your plug! I check every day and nothing yet, I'm getting so impatient haha Grin I don't want to be late either, what's the next steps for you? When do you next see the midwife? x

Out of interest, I'm about a week behind you both and this morning have been trying to research when they will perform sweeps in the UK. Are you both in the UK? It must mean @OP you're hoping for a sweep around 39+3 and @ 1stmummaSD you had one somewhere in your 38th week?

Hodge85 · 07/06/2020 11:02

@whhho yes I am in the UK, so I last saw my midwife when I was 36+3 weeks and should really have seen her again at 38 weeks but she decided to push it back to 39 weeks (which will be this Tuesday) so that she could offer me a sweep. I don't know if she's delayed it because my body may be better prepared for it? I am more than happy with her decision though so I think it depends on your midwife. When do you next see your midwife?

OP posts:
1stmummaSD · 07/06/2020 12:49

Yep I'm UK. I had a sweep at 38+4 because I was in hospital for reduced movements. They said that because it was the second time the lazy bugger was playing up, that we start the process of trying to get things moving. Now that I've started on this path I can have one every 2 days but to be honest, it bloody hurt so I haven't booked another one yet! I'm going to get in touch with the midwife tomorrow. I'm not due to see the midwife for a normal appointment again until next Monday when I'll be 40+2 - I really don't want to get that far!

Hodge85 · 07/06/2020 12:57

@ 1stmummaSD oh gosh, does it really hurt getting a sweep? I've been getting a lot of lightning crotch pain due to baby bouncing his head off my cervix and that can really hurt at times Confused
Yeah I don't want to go over either, do you think you'll see if you can get induced?

OP posts:
1stmummaSD · 07/06/2020 16:09

Well it certainly wasn't pleasant lol. Maybe I was just unprepared for it. I'd only gone in for monitoring so I wasn't expecting it at all. I assumed it was just going to be like a smear but it definitely hurt more than that! Can't be that horrendous though because I want another this week!

They don't induce here until 40+12. I don't really fancy being induced because I'll be on my own in hospital until active labour starts. What about you? Will they induce you?

thosethreewords · 07/06/2020 16:52

I'm being induced next week at 39+1 and hoping that I'm able to get a sweep on Tuesday when I see my midwife at 38+4 to get things moving!

Definitely had some increasing lightening crotch, which has been uncomfortable!

Hodge85 · 07/06/2020 16:53

@ 1stmummaSD not a clue, it's not a question I have asked yet. I will ask my midwife on Tuesday to see what she says. I have to say 40+12 is such a long time, I'm not sure I'd be prepared to wait that long either. I hope if you go for another sweep that it is successful this time!

OP posts:
Hodge85 · 07/06/2020 16:59

@thosethreewords it's painful isn't it. I find it really hurts if I have a full bladder (well as full as it can get these days Grin) and they've been off and on over the past few days. I only hope it's a good sign that things are starting to progress x

OP posts:
thosethreewords · 08/06/2020 12:04

How are you doing today? I've had no fanny daggers today despite bouncing on my ball! Booooo! Going to take the dog for a walk and carry on bouncing when I get home. Come on baby!!

Hodge85 · 08/06/2020 12:16

@thosethreewords I'm doing ok, I woke up to a tight tummy which was uncomfortable so had a bath which seemed to help. Just took the dog for a walk but that just resulted in a really sore back so currently resting on the couch. Will get on the ball this afternoon, I'm the same as you I just really want things to progress now! Grin

Hi hun,

I'm due on the 16th and I am so excited but so nervous as this is my first baby and I dont know what to expect. I'm so scared of labour as I'm not good pain and my midwife offered me a sweep next week but the thought of it sends shivers down my spine!!! She said I dont have to have it and it's entirely up to me. I'm debating it

1stmummaSD · 09/06/2020 16:58

Hi ladies hope you're doing ok.

It looks like the sweep did start things moving for us. My waters broke Sunday evening and my beautiful baby girl arrived at 3.32am this morning.

Hopefully things will get moving for you soon. X

Hodge85 · 09/06/2020 17:11

@ 1stmummaSD aww excellent news! So happy for you ❤️ I didn't get a sweep today as the protocol with my hospital is that they're only offered from 40 weeks so I'm booked in to have one next week and if baby hasn't arrived by then the midwife said she'll book me in for an induction. It's so frustrating as baby is in the right position, it's just a waiting game now. Really hope he comes soon x

@MissRiss aww don't be scared, there are plenty of pain relief options available. I'm definitely up for a sweep now, since I turned 39 weeks I've become so uncomfortable. I think sweeps are favourable than being induced, so I've heard. Just hope it works x

OP posts:
thosethreewords · 09/06/2020 18:17

@1stmummaSD congratulations!! I'm so glad it worked for you! I hope mine works too - I had one this afternoon and it was painful! Had some blood since but no mucus I don't think. Definitely crampy but otherwise no change yet!

Hodge85 · 09/06/2020 18:57

@thosethreewords ooh keep us updated! Smile x

Percephone · 10/06/2020 07:00

I'm due this week. I'm not being offered a sweep until 40+3 and they don't induce until 40+12 so I'm hoping things get started on their own!

Hodge85 · 10/06/2020 07:26

@Percephone same here regarding sweep, not sure on induction though. I'll just have to see what happens when I see the midwife next week at 40+3, really hoping baby comes on his own or that the sweep works.

OP posts:
Smiffette · 11/06/2020 17:54

@Percephone I'm similar, I have a seeep booked in tomorrow morning when I'll be 40+4 although she did say they wouldn't normally offer until I am a week over... I really didn't want to leave it that long as she said at 41 weeks they would offer sweep and book in for induction for 12 days over.
I'm hoping, if I don't go into labour before tomorrow morning, that the sweep will work and baby will be here before 41 weeks

Johnson10 · 11/06/2020 20:19

I’m 38+3. I had a sweep today. They’re offered from 38 weeks here. It was ok, uncomfortable but not painful or anything. It was worth it as my midwife said my cervix is nice & soft. 1cm dilated. But still long. At least I know things are happening. Bleeding & cramps since! Fingers crossed 🤞🏻

Hodge85 · 11/06/2020 20:55

@Johnson10 ooh that sounds promising! I hope it works for you, keep us updated if you can please Smile
