I'm 41 weeks pregnant tomorrow and feeling highly fed up and heavy and uncomfortable. Baby doesnt seem to be coming, I've had low preiod cramps for week, low backache for weeks, but no other signs. I need to get baby out before they induce me!

I feel you!! I'm 41 weeks today too!!! It's miserable isn't it!!!! Do you have an induction date booked in? Or any sweeps?

Yorkshiremamma · 04/06/2020 12:25

No induction booked in as yet, I have midwife tomorrow but she never mentioned a sweep but I will ask her about that, she said they would allow me to go 2 weeks over before induction or monitoring. I'm down for a homebirth so I'm not sure what they will do if I have to be induced, I think I'd have to birth in a hospital if I reach induction stage. My first child was induction then emergency section so I never got to experience going into labour naturally and I'm hoping this time round that I wouldnt have to be induced but the longer its going on the more I'm losing hope!

Hello! 41+2 here with 3rd baby.

I wrote a post about impending induction 😬😬

Also planned a home birth! My induction date is Tuesday which is 42wks. Desperate to avoid it really.
I had a sweep yesterday and lost plug yesterday and more today. Had on off contractions, but been having these for well over a week anyway!! It’s so frustrating

BlueEggsAndSpam · 04/06/2020 14:10

I was 41 weeks on a Friday, cried to the midwife when she mentioned induction Blush. No signs of baby. Went into labour on the Saturday at 3am. Once you get to this stage there’s a very good chance that you are going to go into labour sometime very soon - even without any signs!

SquirtleSquad · 04/06/2020 14:14

Oh I feel your pain last summer I finally had DC3 at 40+6 I had to have a CSection which I really didn't want and tried absolutely everything to get him out myself with no joy.

My DC1&2 are twins and I had them a month early so the last 5 weeks with DC3 felt like an absolute life time!!!!!

Keep moving as much as you can and try to get lots of sleep ThanksThanksThanksThanksThanks

Yorkshiremamma · 04/06/2020 18:01

@flissity oh gosh I hope you go into labour before induction and still get your homebirth!!
How was the sweep? I've heard they can be painful. You will have to let us know how you get on. Fingers crossed for you! X

@BlueEggsAndSpam That gives me a bit of hope, I feel like crying everyday when nothing happens. Just so fed up now of been uncomfortable and heavy. I hope this baby makes an appearance soon!

@SquirtleSquad I've been trying to keep as active as possible, although had planned to go for a walk today with the dogs and I ended up falling asleep for 2hours! I feel better for it though but missed out on the walk and now its absolutely chucking it down outside 😂

@Yorkshiremamma I wake up every morning feeling a bit deflated it hasn’t happened!

The sweep was ok. Yes a bit painful but I told her to ‘give it a good go’ 😆 I wanted it to be worthwhile!!
Definitely not dreading the one I’ll have tomorrow so it can’t have been that bad. Maybe as already 2/3cm dilated it was easier to get inside cervix? Just really hope it works.

We went for long walk today, spent a long time bouncing on ball while helping DD’s with school work. Basically done all I can 🤷🏻‍♀️
Had period type pains with tightenings on/off all day 🙄

FattyIDingAsThinny · 04/06/2020 20:37

Just want to commiserate. I was 42+1 with DS1 and the last couple of weeks were hell. Especially as other pregnant women I knew who were due after me, were already meeting up at mother and baby groups!!

And then the sms and emails asking "So, have you given birth yet????!!!!!" Like I was somehow going to hide it from everybody! Or better yet, "Congratulations! I'm not sure when he was born, but know he must be here by now!"

It wasn't an enjoyable time. Plus my stomach suddenly developed small stretch marks which then riiiiiipped apart from week 40-42!

He's a happy, healthy, very strong energetic kid now though!

Good luck all of you!!

Yorkshiremamma · 04/06/2020 20:45

@flissity I'm the same, I go to bed each night thinking this could be it, I could wake up with contractions and have a baby by the morning! I wake up every morning still pregnant, then everyday I wake up I think I could have a baby by bedtime tonight, and then nothing again. I suppose one thing is for sure, we cant stay pregnant forever so we will have our babies at some point, I just wish it was now! I'm going to ask midwife about a sweep tomorrow at my appointment. Good luck with yours x

@FattyIDingAsThinny my friend was due the week after me, so this week really, and her baby is now 3 weeks old and I'm still hanging on. Constantly getting the messages asking if I've had him yet and if I have any signs of labour. Its just so disheartening, I keep thinking it's my bodys fault, it clearly doesnt know how to get the baby out 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

Good luck for the sweep tomorrow.

The other thing is every night I have a panic tidy... Incase ‘tonight is the night’ I want to wake in the night to a tidy home! Clean kitchen etc.
I fluff up the sofa cushions, make sure the bathroom is nice 🙄🤷🏻‍♀️🤣

flissity · 04/06/2020 21:05

@Yorkshiremamma all moaning aside... I think June Is a nice time to have a birthday!

Iwalkinmyclothing · 04/06/2020 21:15

I went to 42+1 with my first and then my second was 41+3- don't be down hearted op. I went into labour with ds2 the morning of the day I was due to have a sweep so may the same happen to you!

Yorkshiremamma · 04/06/2020 21:17

@flissity snap! I've just done mine just incase 😂. Yeah june is a lovely month for a birthday! Good luck to you, let us know if you have any signs of movement! X

OP posts:
Yorkshiremamma · 04/06/2020 21:18

@Iwalkinmyclothing oh god I hope so, I keep thinking there must be something wrong with me! Especially with the midwife wanting to induce at 42 weeks, I feel like I'm on a countdown timer and totally under pressure to deliver before then!

OP posts:
linerforlife · 05/06/2020 05:48

I've got another sweep today, first was unsuccessful and I wasn't even dilated. I'm waking up every morning upset that there's still no baby too!!! Induction booked for next week which my family all seem very against, which isn't really helpful. COME OUT BABY!!!! (Also, a 2 hr nap is totally normal at this stags I think - I'm doing that every day!!!)

flissity · 05/06/2020 06:47

@linerforlife my second sweep today is at 9:30am 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Would be over the moon if it works

linerforlife · 05/06/2020 07:12

Good luck @flissity may your cervix by favourable Grin

linerforlife · 05/06/2020 07:12

*be (honestly, so many spelling mistakes so little time!!!)

Whatshername20 · 05/06/2020 08:26

Hope you get there soon OP!

I was 41+1 when I went into labour on the morning of my planned induction but before that two sweeps failed because cervix was tight shut and no signs of him coming.
Things can change very quickly, hope this is the case for you!

Iwalkinmyclothing · 05/06/2020 09:02

I feel like I'm on a countdown timer and totally under pressure to deliver

I remember that feeling :(
I'd been induced with ds1 and with ds2 was very firm I wouldn't go for induction simply because I had reached 42 weeks- I was willing to accept any additional monitoring they wanted at that point and if anything they saw indicated a need to induce then I'd go for it, but I wanted more reason than a date on a calendar. Still was v relieved to have him before their deadline.
With ds3 (different area and 6 years later) they started pushing for me to have a sweep from the EDD and seemed utterly confused when I said no, don't be daft, we're not doing that yet.

Good luck to all of you waiting Flowers

BlueEggsAndSpam · 06/06/2020 21:04

Hopefully some babies will appear this weekend! 😬🤞🏻

flissity · 07/06/2020 01:06

Hello!!!

Mine has arrived!! Went into labour at 3am ish today - was planning a HB but no MW were available. Actually I felt quite happy going in- I got a room in the Midwife led unit - so felt quite lucky.

Baby girl 7lb8oz was born at 3pm! So not a quick third labour after all these pains...

Forgot how painful it was! Tens machine was a very good distraction. I ended up having her in the pool - although it took some convincing me to take off the tens!!

After getting out of pool I had a massive load of blood loss. So the room filled with people 😬 was ok in end after a drip and various things...

Now waiting to go home.

Glad I escaped the induction and so so happy. She has masses of dark brown hair!! Is feeding well. Afterpains are shocking though!! And had a few stitches but all in all ok 👍🏻
