Being induced today

Got to call the hospital in 8 minutes for a time to go in. Feeling so anxious!

Second baby and absolutely no issues during first labour, would actually say it was a good experience. So why am I so petrified to go through it again? I know it’s too late and I have no choice but I really don’t want to do this!

Stay positive and enjoy it! It's adrenaline. Go with it and breath. Excited for you!!

Thanks for the replies! Baby arrived safe and sound but in a very dramatic fashion. I was right to be anxious, was definitely more painful this time round but we got through it and I’m home and laying on the sofa having some skin to skin time.

Gosh OP what happened? Glad you're both safe and sound, huge congratulations Flowers

Congratulations! @Dingdongthewitchisbread, glad you are both well. I would be interested to hear too what happened...as deciding between the induction and planned c section..

Trying to keep it brief, I was induced with the pessary and tightenings started a couple of hours later. After 11 hours from the pessary I was contracting every 3/4 minutes and it was all getting very intense. I asked for Gas & air but was told no as I was still on induction ward. Midwife offered to run me a bath and check me over after. I literally stepped in the bath, had my show and felt I needed to push. Managed to walk back to my bed (completely naked might I add Blush) but couldn’t get on it to be assessed. 3 contractions later my waters had gone and baby fell out on midwifes knee!

omg..wow..well done to you! and that's all without any help/gas, air, epidural..my hospital doesn't do pessaries currently, only balloon induction, followed by a drip..my first labour was a precipitous labour, and although very intense contractions etc they wouldn't give me gas & air..so a bit scared of induction now and pain if i'm honest..

Enjoy your little one.

Well done and congtatulations!!

Dingdongthewitchisbread · 05/06/2020 13:28

@fool11 what are your reasons for the c section? It’s all personal but whilst I categorically don’t want to do it again, if I had to, I’d still chose a vaginal birth just because of the recovery time.

The induction process itself was fine, and I whilst I did feel the second birth was more intense, everyone I’ve spoken two has said their second birth was more painful than the first.

i have option of induction or c section, i'm 45, ivf baby, first baby was born small, so they want me to deliver the baby at 38/39w..i don't really want the induction nor the c section. With my first i had a sweep which worked well and hoping to have another sweep this time and hope it will work and i can have a vaginal birth, that would be my ideal option. However if the sweep doesn't work, they will want the baby out, so need to decide between the induction (which might not work , 1 in 3 end up in emerg. c seciton) or instrumental delivery, which i def don't want, but understand there is sometime no time to do anything else, but really don't want to distress the little one unnecessarily, or go for a planned c section and have it done and dusted..but that's obviously has it's own risks..i honestly would prefer just to have a sweep and have a vaginal birth if possible..but need to have a plan if it does't work...

Congrats OP! I also did the naked rush from
The bath to the bed too mortifying when you look back 😂
All worth it though!
