C-section during Covid-19 pandemic?

I am booked in for on 24 July. I have had one before and really appreciated having my partner in the post-natal ward with me in the days after the operation... This time he will need to leave after my time in the recovery room.
Has anyone had a c-section during lockdown? How did you cope looking after the baby on your own after the op? Were the midwives helpful? Would be great to hear your experiences

I don’t have a pandemic story but I was left alone after my c-section as my DH had to travel with our son to a NICU at another hospital. I didn’t have a baby to look after but I was a complete mess! The midwives were amazing and I’m sure they will be in your situation too.

Yes, I had a section a couple of weeks ago,I was also in antenatal for a week before as well.

Husband allowed into theatre then left when I was in recovery, he was allowed to drop things into the ward but not see us after that. I was in for five days after as baby was prem and needed antibiotics. honestly? Midwives didn't really help, night one I was picking up baby feeding and changing etc, day two at 6 am I was told to get up and walk about and go to the toilet after that I was pretty much left alone unless I asked for painkillers.

Don't get me wrong they were friendly just not overly involved.

@newmum520 yes that’s my fear... I get really bad nausea as the anaesthetic wears off. Last time I was also not 100% with it that afternoon after the operation due to all the drugs. The pain also made things tricky :/ I will let the midwives know if for whatever reason I’m struggling to cope (although hoping it will be ok), but yeah I can imagine them just letting you get on with it/providing minimal support as they are busy/forget you are there.

Had a section 3 weeks ago. Husband was allowed in for theatre and in recovery afterwards, we were the only people in recovery as lists were so clear due to the pandemic. C section was great. Recovery was great. They took me up to the ward and husband said goodbye. Nurses and midwives then v involved if I needed them (I didn’t, my recovery wasn’t painful at all) but we’re very involved with other ladies, they all said it was much easier to be very hands on as the wards were so so quiet as people were being sent home as soon as safe etc. I fed and changed baby myself without help anyway and got up myself etc but they were only a buzz away and encouraged you to buzz them all the time. They really were great and the other lady on my ward/bay (usually full and 10 ladies; this time there were two of us!) had help the whole time. I went home 24 hours after section.
The whole process was lovely.
