Unfavourable cervix at 41w

This is my first pregnancy and I had a sweep at 41w on Thursday and was told my cervix was completely unfavourable. I would really like to avoid an induction, but also wary of going much further than 42w. I have another sweep booked tomorrow (41+3) so we'll see how that goes, but I guess I am looking for positive stories from first time mums who had an unfavourable cervix and then still went into labour naturally within a few days. Also worth noting that I don't really have any symptoms either (like period type pains, etc). Thanks!

Hi OP,

Hope you're doing well.
I had my baby 13 weeks ago. I had a sweep at 39 weeks I think, cervix was completely high and closed so couldn't be done.
I then had one at 40 weeks and same again. Booked for an induction a week later. No signs at all he was coming anytime soon.
I was so disheartened and scared about an induction so I kind of resigned myself to the fact baby wasn't coming. Woke up on the morning of the induction at 41+1 with pains and he set himself off naturally, avoiding induction.
Try and relax (easier said than done!) things can change very quickly and baby will come when they're ready. Due dates are only ever an estimate so you never know what you actually are.
Read up on all your options and if you don't want an induction, don't be forced although I think it does get to a point where they won't let you continue. Good luck, hope you meet your baby soon

I was offered a sweep at my 40 week appointment (was 40+2), was told my cervix was too high to reach so the midwife didn’t perform the sweep. She said she’d try again in a week and I left feeling very confident that I’d be pregnant for a while longer as my cervix was so unfavourable. 2am the next morning (about 14 hours later!) went into spontaneous labour!

Also I had no symptoms/pains/signs of anything happening further cementing the idea I wouldn’t be giving birth anytime soon! Contractions were my first sign and from when I woke they were 4 minutes apart!
