Induction tomorrow (30/5)

Not really sure why I'm posting this but I'm 39+6 with my first baby and have an induction tomorrow and I'm suddenly super nervous! Baby measured big at the 34 week scan so.the consultant booked me in an induction on my due date. I then had a large growth spurt between my last 2 midwife appointments so I'm happy with the option of induction but still rather nervous.

Had a sweep weds and my cervix was favourable and I've lost what I can only believe is my plug since then but no further signs sadly.

I've been so excited since weds but today it's suddenly dawned on me what comes next. I can't wait to meet my little boy but will find it hard waiting until I'm far enough into labour for my husband to join.

Sorry for the waffle!

Good luck!! Try and relax and enjoy it. I was induced and it was a long slog so take some books/music and nice food etc. Be prepared to be there a few days XX

Thanks @India999 just bulk downloading on Netflix in prep 😁 I'm excited one minute and petrified the next. Were you already showing labour signs pre induction?

Hi @Lemonysherbet yes I definitely also recommend taking plenty of things to occupy you. It can sometimes be that they don’t even start induction for a while if there busy. Also guessing your partner won’t be able to stay with you until I’m active labour? (It’s that rule at ours currently- covid)

I wasn’t in active labour at al when I had mine. And started with unfavourable cervix etc etc. The process was started 9am and I started to get pains around late afternoon and was in proper painful labour all night. Delivered by forceps at 1pm next day. The baby was not in a great position which hindered cervix dilating I think. I had the pessary and drip. I had all the pain relief going!!

Make sure you have a phone charger!!! So you can keep in contact with your husband

Best of luck 🤞🏼

No, I wasn't dilated at all when I started and they couldn't reach my cervix! Mine took 3 days. I had two pessaries and they decided it had "failed" so was booked in for a c section. There was a delay in getting the section and in that time I ended up going into labour. Delivery was much better than I thought it would be (I had an epidural!) and my recovery was very quick. I hope it's going well so far!! Excited for you!

Thanks both. I'm here, I've had the propess inserted, my cervix was middling, just hope my body plays ball now!

Good luck. Had 3 inductions. All fab. Honest. No complications, no tearing, nothing.

Am only sharing this as I know some get nervous. Oh and I took every bit of pain relief going.

I'm being induced tomorrow (due date) because I'm 40. 🙄🙄🙄🙄 Have absolutely no signs of labour yet, had two attempted (and failed) sweeps last week and know that I'm just not ready. Am prepared for it to be a huge long slog but keeping everything crossed the induction works and that I don't have to have a c section.

Liveforholidays · 31/05/2020 07:38

@Lemonysherbert Hope your induction has gone well. Have you had your baby yet?

Lemonysherbet · 08/06/2020 21:30

@Liveforholidays sorry for the delay, I did indeed on 31/5 at 9am... An almighty 10lb baby boy and my gosh I'm in love
