Is labour close?

Hello,

Currently 37+5 weeks and on Sunday I started getting cramping, very much like menstrual cramps which subsided after about 20 minutes. I then had the same thing happen for the majority of Tuesday morning too and last night I was woken with cramps at 2am, which also lasted about 20 minutes. I wasn't sure if it was diarrhea cramping (sorry TMI) but nothing happened when I went to the toilet and I've been fine since. I haven't had any other symptoms, no waters leaking, no mucus plug, etc. I saw the midwife on Tuesday and she said baby's head was sitting quite low in my pelvis and was engaged.

Had anyone else experienced similar? Does this mean labour is close now? x

Sounds it to me. I had DS at 39 + 5 weeks, started with what felt like period cramps throughout the day on and off for 2 days. But the 3rd day I was being woken up by them and then the 4th day I had my DS. Everyone's different though. A friend of mine is now 40 + 3 weeks and she's been having period cramps for about a week and still no sign of baby!

I've been having this on and off for about 2 weeks, plus some of my plug came away but nothing has progressed as yet. I think it's from the baby moving lower down.

Good luck Smile

I started having occasional cramping from 38 weeks, currently 39+5 🙄 sorry! Grin

I've had this for the last week and a half. I'm now 41 weeks with 1 unsuccessful sweep under my belt.

Everyone is different though so that doesnt mean it isnt the first sign of labour for you. Good luck OP
