Hello,

I'm due my first baby in less than 4 weeks now and I was just wondering how long other first time mum's have stayed in hospital following the birth? Especially during these crazy times, thanks Smile x

I'm a bit out as he's 11 weeks old but I stayed in overnight in a private room. He pooed in my waters so they wanted to keep regular obs on him overnight otherwise I could've gone that day I think.
They wanted me to stay another night to show them I could feed but that was declined. Good luck with your birth 😊

Mine was 10 weeks ago, had stitches and retained placenta, had to go to theatre, have spinal block and catheter. I stayed one night, about 30 hours in total. There was some suggestion I could stay another night, but with nowhere for my partner to stay I prefered to go home. I imagine with covid they will be even keener to have you out.

I'm due in 2 weeks, my hospital have told me if you have a straight forward labour they are discharging within 6 hours of baby being born :)

I had my baby 5 weeks ago, it was a fairly quick & straightforward labour ending with a forceps delivery. I was in hospital for about 30 hours after the birth which was much longer than I wanted to stay tbh. Spent the first few hours recovering & relaxing and then the next 24 hours pestering the midwives about when I could go home, lol. It felt like there was hours and hours of pointless waiting around - waiting for the doctor to discharge me, waiting for the midwife who was doing the new baby checks, waiting for the hearing test & the BCG, waiting to get DS's red book & my discharge notes....... all those things are important of course but they only seemed to happen after several hours of waiting!

Hi

I had my baby 9th May 3.07am and I was home by 2.30 that afternoon! Don't think they will keep anyone In unnecessarily at the moment. Just depends on if you or the baby have any issues but all going well you wouldn't stay long if at all! Good luck!

Gave birth nearly 5 weeks ago. Baby had pooed before birth so had to stay for 12 hours of observations after birth. Otherwise would have left after a few hours as all went fine. Good luck!!
