Hi everyone ,

Looking for some advice or info really, having a sweep done on Wednesday i will be exactly 38 weeks ..has anyone had this done at this gestation and has it worked? What are your thoughts on this and how long before your labour started? Was it sore? Also having a vbac this time as currently trying to avoid c-section due due to this covid ect which would be scheduled the end of this month, tia x

I had 3 and all unsuccessful unfortunately. First one done at 37 weeks then every week from there. Baby arrived 40 plus 5. Do you have a breast pump? If so get using it if safe to do so. I tried every trick in the book and nothing worked. The day before he arrived I used my breast pump and went in to labour 15 mins later I kid you not. 20 minutes later I stood up and waters broke. X

I had my first sweep at 36+6 for this reason. I had another sweep at 38 weeks, that midwife later said she thought I was far (weeks) from birth and would end up with my planned c section at 39 weeks. DD was born at 38+1 weeks. I got my vbac.

@Laylor no i dont have a breast pump but literally just read that on a fb post in a mums group, is that sore ? Ive been having period like cramps on and off and yesterday was the worst yet but still nothing 😩 tried all the usual , ball , sex , curry , pineapple ect x

@Selfsettling3 oh really ? Im hoping and praying this works for im in absolute agony now and so done being pregnant 🤦🏼‍♀️ x

It dosent hurt no. I tried everything like you say, sex pineapple curry loads of stuff but not the breast pump. I honestly think baby will come when ready. I woke up with terrible heart burn that I'd had all the way through and was pacing the front room 2am onwards pissed off and tired. I cracked open the breast pump and honestly it happened just like that. I started getting really mild period pains every like 5 10 mins or so and I said to my husband could this be it. I then stood up and leaked everywhere. I just had a top and knickers on so it went everywhere. Baby arrived 32 hours later. Contractions ramped right up until i was convinced he was going to drop out. Went to hospital only 2cm contractions stopped. Day after was induced at 4pm and baby arrived 7pm it was so fast and tore like you wouldnt believe. Hes 3 months old today x
