How long did your early labour last?

I've been having braxton hicks for weeks, which have ramped up to what I think could be early labour (over the past couple of days- on and off- some regular contractions, others not - but deffo painful and 'different')... I'm due on Sunday.

PAU don't want me to make the journey in until I'm 10 mins apart and regular...

I've read that this can go on for days, so wondered if anyone has any experiences to share?

This is DS2, DS1 was a CS due to being breech- so I haven't been in labour before :) TIA

How’s it going? Are you still at home?

Mine went from hourly at 4am to hospital at 9pm first time round. Slowly got faster and didn’t start pushing until 6am.

Second was much much faster.

@peajotter I'm in hospital at the mo, been admitted for reduced movements... which is rubbish. The tightenings stayed at every 10mins or so initially, then started ramping up after I got on the ward... now have steadied again. Hopefully all be be well overnight and I can continue with what the midwifes think is probably early labour at home for a while. Thanks for checking in :) good to know it didn't take too long then really (in the grand scheme of things) :)

Wondered how you are getting on?

JenDaw · 09/05/2020 15:20

Thanks @flissity All ok, movements picked up overnight and this morning so heading home shortly... booked for an induction next weekend so fingers crossed labour will come full force by itself first :)

So you’ve got a full week to go into labour naturally!! I wish you the best of luck. If that doesn’t happen then induction- it’s good you have a plan ☺️

Quick update- went into spontaneous labour following a sweep on Tuesday, baby born yesterday! Ended up with the hormone drip to move things along half way, and assisted birth in the end (due to baby's heartbeat dropping) but got the VBAC I wanted :)
