I've been having contractions for over 24 hours ranging from 3-10 minutes but never really over. They don't want to see me until consistently 5 mins apart at the hospital and I am absolutely giving up. I'm in so much pain all the time and the contractions bring me to tears. I've had no sleep obviously and I'm shattered, can barely walk with lower back pain and shivering from head to toe.
Any tips out there? I don't find the bath much help and paracetamol isn't touching the sides 😭 Fed up!

Phone and tell the midwife what you have told us.

Agree with above poster--call your midwife. Sounds like you're having a back to back labour and for some women they can take much longer due to additional pain, position of the baby etc.

It's much better to get you in if you're really struggling than just letting to run out of energy pacing at home.

Remember that soon it'll all be over and you'll have that beautiful baby in your arms!

Thanks guys! Went to a dark place last night. Went in for an examination and you are right, back to back! And only 2cm (omg...) so back home dosed up on Codeine and waiting it out still. Still irregular..38 hours strong 💪

Maryam18 · 07/05/2020 16:20

Good luck 🤞I had a very long back to back labour too so know the feeling. Xx

FearnRJ · 07/05/2020 17:53

How are you getting on? I had a very long back to back labour and just how you are explaining it excruciating back ache and shivering and couldn't lay down it hurt that much. Mine started last Thursday night I gave birth to my beautiful baby girl on Monday.

Good luck! Let us know how you get on. Just remember that beautiful baby will be in your arms before you know it ❤️ x

I also had a back to back labour. As soon as my waters went it progressed very quickly after stop start for about a week.

Good luck OP!

YorkshirePud1 · 07/05/2020 23:06

That sounds like hard work. I hope things are moving for you now. Good luck!

Thanks guys! Yes it was definitley less than ideal, went back in at 8pm as my waters had broken but still didn't progress so was induced with an epidural as I was getting pushing sensations and babies bp was a bit high, they gave me more than 24 hours at the hospital but I only got to 4cm so decided for an emergency c section with a spinal block! Baby boy born at 10:35am on 8th May. Although It was horrific at the time you just have to go with the flow, I think i tried out every birth scenario going 😂 and although the emcs was traumatic and it will live with me for a bit, you really don't care when you've got your baby in your arms! X

Ah congratulations! Well done for getting through it and enjoy your baby cuddlesSmile
I'm 39 weeks tomorrow with my first and not going to lie, I'm terrified, but it's always good to hear that no matter what happens you get through it and it's always worth it in the end.
I hope you're recovering well!
