Is is normal to still not have a date for ELCS this far along?

At my 36 week consultant appointment he put the booking request through for my section and said I’d get a call by the end of the week with a date

That came and went.
I’m now nearly 38 weeks and still no call. I have chased up but only been able to leave voicemails on the consultants secretary’s line and I nothing back yet.

A bit worried I’ve been forgotten

You could ring your midwife or even maternity to see if anyone can help but with COVID it may be that they don’t have a date yet.

Um yeah I’d be ringing everybody by now - it should be next week! Even with COVID c-sections are going ahead as planned

Definitely ring your midwife

Yes that seems late - I got an approval in my notes at 33w and a pre op appointment and planned date at 35w. They normally plan for 39w and you'll need a pre-op appointment beforehand (blood test, telling you to fast etc).

If you can't get through to your consultant, chase your midwife or directly call the maternity unit/ward

Our local hospital dont tell you till you go for pre op a few days before! With my last (3rd) I went into labour the day before my pre op and ended up with an early section. Generally they go at 39 weeks... but could be give or take depending on how busy they are.
I did ask my midwife if that's still how my hospital works and apparently it is however I will be requesting a date when i see my consultant in a couple weeks if lockdown is still likely (which I think it will) as I have to sort childcare and thats not as easy now xx
