Positive FTM induction stories?

5 days over due now, booked for induction in 2 days time after trying what feels like EVERYTHING to get this baby to budge with no luck!

I've had an uncomplicated pregnancy, text book so far. I'm definitely feeling nervous for induction as the current situation means I have to attend alone and don't have my fiancée there for support until I'm in later stages of labour and I have no idea what to expect.

I had a sweep yesterday at 3pm, she said I was 1cm dilated and cervix soft, I had some bleeding immediately after and since then just brown bitty discharge.

I had a positive induction. FTM. Induced at 37 weeks thanks to pre-eclampsia.

First day (2 sets of gel pessaries) was a bit unproductive admittedly. Had a few contractions, but I certainly wasn't in labour.

Labour suite fortunately had capacity to take me in the early hours of the second day. Waters were broken, CTG attached, and I was hooked up to the drip.

The drip was gradually turned up until I was contacting as strongly and as frequently as they wanted me too. Started off with paracetamol and codeine in preparation for the pain, then gas and air, then eventually diamorphine.

Diamorphine made things weird. Not a lot of memories of that time as a result. However, I did get to sleep between contractions which was nice.

Time passed. Contractions were had. At some point baby needed a scalp electrode placed. She wasn't distressed, but the monitoring kept losing her (she's a real wrigglebutt, that hated her scans) and they wanted to be sure she was ok.

Eventually I got to 10cm, and was ready to push. 20 minutes later I had my perfect baby girl in my arms. No interventions needed and a minor 2nd degree tear to be stitched.

All in all, it took 31 hours from the first pessary, and only 13 from the drip being placed.

For various reasons, I skipped the first stage and went straight to having my waters broken and put on drip. About 8 hours later I had some pethidine to help with the pain, at that point I was 4cm. 50 minutes later DS flew out. Had some tearing but being stitched up was fine. Also had to have clip on babys head to monitor his heartbeat as they kept losing him on the monitor, I barely noticed them doing it. It wasn't the birth I'd wanted but it was fine and I was just happy we were both OK. Good luck, you'll be fine!
