I'm 35+6 and know my labour is right round the corner. I'm feeling a bit apprehensive about the new rules in the hospital. Can anyone who's given birth under the restrictions give me a run through to what happened please? And does baby get checked for coronavirus?? Thank you in advance

Birth partner only for active labour and no visiting on wards at all in most units.

Babies are not being tested for covid19

Posted too soon.
You will be cared for as normal, nothing changes on that respect. All staff will be wearing PPE also, so not to be alarmed.

You may be asked to wear a mask at some points

@Mummyme87 thank you! That's very helpful. I take it there's no plan on testing on babies then? Not that I'm worried he will be born with it, I've followed the social distancing and self isolating rules. Just good to know. Thank you 😊

No definitely not. Babies born to positive mums are not being tested. It doesn’t change anything
