Maybe a bit of a longshot but has anyone recently delivered in the Ulster Hospital Dundonald? What was your experience like in the current coronavirus situation? I'm due to give birth there in the next few weeks so would love to hear (good/bad/anything!)

Hey.

Just thought I’d pop on and wish you luck. I gave birth last month (not in the Ulster) but just as lockdown was starting. Hope everything goes well!

Thank you 😊 Still holding out for things to relax a little come June but I doubt it now! Hope you and your little one are doing well

My SIL did a few weeks ago and she said it was very good. No partners are allowed except during active labour and for a bit afterwards and they'd increased the staff levels because of that. She said everyone was really nice and she was discharged quickly as all was well with her and baby.

Thank you! Glad to hear it all went well. I was worried the midwives would be really stretched with freestanding centres closed and home births cancelled. And also because I'm really hoping to use the home from home again but know they only have limited number of rooms. Thanks for replying 😊

SarahC1985 · 12/09/2022 00:06

@Lindac1989 back to normal. Partners were always allowed to accompany you in labour

Lindac1989 · 12/09/2022 00:12

Didn't no what it was all like as my last was April 2019 before everything went up the left my partner came to my appointments and my friend joined me at the birth with my partner being a whimp lol and had our daughter etc now hel have our daughter and son.. just thought I'd get a post up with being a while and b4 I'm due to appointments lol thanks for answering

SarahC1985 · 12/09/2022 00:13

@Lindac1989 wishing you all the best of luck. Thank goodness it's all calmed down and visiting is back to normal. It must've been awful for all those women during covid. So isolating

Lindac1989 · 12/09/2022 00:21

I've seen awful comments in the past so that's why I commented to see if everything was still the same or back to normal I've to go get tested for that diabetes early this time just waiting for the appointment as had it with my son when pregnant with him and this pregnancy was such a surprise lol... I'm glad it's all back to normal I don't think I could of handled all that I wonder which IL get 1st the diabetes appointment or my dating scan lol it's been a while can't even remember how far along I was with my daughter when I had to go but for my son I had to go to early scans etc as had a miscarriage before him still scarey after that miscarriage even tho had a live birth after it and he wanted out 3 weeks early lol

SarahC1985 · 12/09/2022 09:45

@Lindac1989 the first trimester is a very scary time. Try to relax as much as you can and enjoy every positive step as it comes. I'm in the same boat. Pregnant now after IVF and a miscarriage and I can't settle myself.

Your diabetes test will be at 16 weeks and you'll book at 11 weeks

Irishgirl55 · 12/09/2022 11:23

Did you all have a good experience in the Ulster. I have just found out I am pregnant with my second, Had a terrible time at the Mater and eventually gave birth in the Royal (who were fantastic) but not sure if I should try somewhere else instead.
