Poop help

WingingIt101 · 02/04/2020 18:35

Gave birth last week and am now 6 days post partum.

3rd degree tear and hemmaroids as a result of birth.

Still no poo! Have felt pressure there all day unable to actually get it out though - have tried:

Lactulose for 6 days (although misread and not fully dosed for first 4 days)
Senna tablets today (around 3pm)
Holding a pad against myself to remove fear
Various positions

I’m terrified, upset and can’t actually sit to hold my baby. Please help me get this out!

I did read and it sounds gross but people who have got in warm bath and been able to relax enough to poop in the water.

WingingIt101 · 02/04/2020 18:50

Thanks @wheresthehope! I tried this this morning with no luck (missed from my list) but I was also anxious about my stitches and being in water too long!

Oh god this is as bad as bloody labour!!

Congratulations and, er commiserations! I remember that feeling!! Drink loads of water to soften it and eat some prunes or plums or rhubarb. Caffeinated coffee by the pot full but, obviously, not in the evening! Keep taking the medicine, its pretty gentle stuff though.

Oh I remember it well! It's awful. You will do it eventually I used to have to psych myself up.

Bienentrinkwasser · 02/04/2020 18:55

Glycerine suppositories. Best thing ever.

WingingIt101 · 02/04/2020 19:01

Thanks all. I’m so uncomfortable and upset which won’t be helping. It sounds so dramatic but I’m desperate for it to be over. I feel like I can’t cope

Definitely glycerine suppositories. They'll make you go and once you've been you'll realise you won't burst everything open!

howsoonisnow85 · 02/04/2020 19:54

Laxido works well for me, or peppermint tea. Good luck xxx

WingingIt101 · 02/04/2020 20:22

Ok husband on way to pharamacy for glycerin

@WingingIt101

And ???

WingingIt101 · 05/04/2020 18:44

Sooo ended up in hospital having to have manual intervention. Frankly the most humiliating moment of my life!
Post labour meds we’re making me clog so they’ve all had to be adjusted.

Oh you poor thing! They will have seen it lots of times.

I accidentally gave birth at home and my DH said they baby is coming out of your arse!'. Yes the piles were that big 😦

gerbo · 05/04/2020 19:01

I'd stock up on prune juice, dried apricots, raisins etc. Eat oranges, raw carrots etc. too.

Make sure you're really hydrated and eat tons of fruit- I kept it all by my feeding chair to snack on. Prune juice isn't delicious but it works!

gerbo · 05/04/2020 19:02

Ps yes you poor thing, it's scary that first time. Glad you're ok now, all done!

Bobbiepin · 05/04/2020 19:11

Sorry you had to go through that OP. Get some dried fruit in and have a good handful of that (6 apricots a day type amount) each day and lots of water to keep things moving. Sending lots of very unmumsnet-y hugs Flowers

Esspee · 05/04/2020 19:14

All bran and prunes works for me.
