Home Birth - space for pool?

Hi all,

Does anyone know how much space you need around a pool in the room for it to be suitable during a home birth? The birth pool in a box site says you need a minimum of 50cm around at least three sides of the pool, but I can't find any info anywhere else, so I'm not sure if that's their recommendation or pretty much the standard.

Is it one of those things that's assessed by the midwife on a case by case (room-by-room?) basis, or is there a standard for it? Going to speak to my midwife in the week but was hoping someone who's been there might be able to enlighten me.

Ta :)

There just needs to be enough room for someone to get round the sides on three sides so they can access you easily. My midwives weren't strict on measurements, just checked they could fit!
