Do I ring MW? I've got a broken leg and fell over reaching for the zimmer frame. Plenty of movement from LO (who is 39 weeks), didn't fall on my bump. Fed up at thought of going in - it'll take ages to get out of the house, don't need the stress as the abd muscles are so knackered I can't even bear to change position too much. Any advice (am I being stupid)?

I would give the midwife a call.

melrose · 11/09/2007 12:45

See if you can getr her to come and see you

madamez · 11/09/2007 12:47

If your LO is kicking and you are not leaking fluids, you are probably OK (though at 39 weeks you might well go into labour fairly soon anyway - the fall might start things off but that wouldn't be necessarily a bad thing).
I fell over at about 30 weeks, LO kicked like mad, no leakages, both midwife and NHS direct said that bumps at this stage are pretty well cushioned from impacts.
My DS was certainly fine and didn't come out for another 2 months. But if you're unhappy or worried call your MW.

Surely if you call the mw's someone will come out to you, given your circumstances?

It's worth giving them a ring, to put your mind at rest

I'll give her a ring - we only have 2 and one is off today so they're pretty busy - they're given me the delivery suite number in case of any twinges, etc., given the mobility situation. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I fell over too at 27 weeks - fell backwards onto a table but didn't get checked out, wish I had got checked out now as had severe bruising and ended up in emergency department 1 week later !!
I would get checked if the baby's movements reduce or if you feel unwell.
Maybe call your M/w for advice as Madamez suggested, mine was really annoyed I hadn't called.

Thank you for all the posts! I rang the MW who said to go in only if something sinister, or labour, started. But she was glad I'd told her, being rhes - as well. hey ho...
