CV Due 22nd May

I'm starting to worry about what the situation will be when baby is due. So far I've been hopeful that we wont be on lockdown by 22nd May. But I'm not so sure now and even if we are not in lockdown I suspect there will still be a lot of restrictions.

I was only planning on having 1 birthing partner so that's fine.

I was planning for my 3 year old to be at nursery during the birth. He normally does 2.5 days but I would have booked an extra day or 2 depending on day what day I go in. My friend was also on stand by to help but unsure if shes willing now with CV.

If I have a c section which is most likely I wanted to use gas and air as thats what I had (aswell as epidural) in my last birth. Not for the pain but because it felt like my insides were being pulled out so I was moving my hips which I didnt realise. I've heard that gas and air is not allowed due to CV. No idea if this is the case for all hospitals.

Can any one reassure me on any of these points?

(I know it's in the wrong topic, I'll report it to me moved)

Also the thought of not having my husband stay overnight with me sounds awful!!

Weirdly I could bare the thought of him not being there for the birth but I hate to think he couldnt be there for the first night. Like helping with the first feeds.

I’m due on 18th May with first baby! Am also very anxious about CV and hoping restrictions will be lifted by then! I know my trust only allow one birth partner and only one visitor once you are on post natal ward - visiting time’s are 9am - 9pm, so never an option for my OH to stay overnight unless of course I’m still on delivery suite!

I’ve not heard that there are any restrictions on gas and air! I hope not as I was hoping to try a tens machine and then move onto gas and air and the birthing pool if it’s available!

Fingers crossed everything will be a little better by the time our May babies arrive! Good luck! SmileFlowers

Hi, good to hear from someone!

Sounds like they all do it a little different. I'm due to have another consultation around 36 weeks so I guess I need to ask all my questions then. I probs should write them down too.

I'm not actually worried about CV itself as I'm not otherwise at risk. I'm just worried about all the restrictions.

All the best with yours!! X
