What colour are vaginal stitches?

I just had a baby and where I live, all house visits have been stopped. The midwife told me to check my stitches with a hand mirror to make sure they are ok. When I looked I can see yellow and it feels like that is the suture, would it be yellow?!

I think mine were white

Mine were white but I suppose could look yellow due to healing. If there’s no smell and obvious sign of infection or inflammation (heat/pain/swelling) I’d say that’s ok.

Also apparently if it's itchy it means it's healing.. or that's what my midwife told me when I complained that my stitches felt itchy

white for regular stitches and clear fishing line for sutures

I couldnt see my main sutures at all, just the wound line. The small ones on my labia (ouch!) were blue.

Of you have some Milton bath add a tiny bit of Milton to a bath and this will make sure you don't get any infections. Half a capful

There's a few different colours OP. I'd give the midwife a call tomorrow to check what to expect, for your reassurance.

Mine started off blue, and then faded to yellow then white as they started to dissolve.

No idea... I never built up the courage to even look at my scarring till last week... A whole year later
