All my birth options sound awful- Help!

I’m 35 weeks pregnant. I have a massive fibroid at the top of my uterus 18cms in Diameter. I also have a large one at the bottom of my uterus. Initially this blocked my cervix but little one has pushed this away. And her head is now lined up beautifully.

So- If I have a vaginal birth midwife says this is likely to be slow and need an induction because the big fibroid at the top makes my contractions weak.

If I have a planned cesarian there is another fibroid right where they like to make the incision. Meaning that I’m more likely to have a vertical incision which isn’t so nice as a horizontal one.
In either case fibroids make heavy bleeds more likely.
I’m so confused and upset. Has anyone had any experience of both or either?

I’m in a similar situation at 33w and obstetrician is going to make recommendations at 36w on natural or cesarian delivery which in itself stresses me out as it leaves so little tome to mentally prepare! However she absolutely would not be pinned down until the 36w scan shows the status of the fibroid (mines 10cm3 by my cervix - baba is already head down trying to squeeze it out if the path lol)

Only thing she would confirm is that the delivery would be in hospital with blood ordered and on standby- like you I’m predicted to bleed!

Sounds like your consultant was way less cryptic than mine.

My midwife was frank and recommended a c-section But that was before she knew about the fibroid now being in c-section line of fire.

I also wasn’t very happy today that I was examined with an unlubed finger, and I am still sore from it. It sort of suggests that consultant isn’t big on empathy and she wasn’t very bothered when I sad that the fibroid at the top hurt. So not sure that pain really factors in to her decision making.

I feel so confused and angry. I can’t really walk to well because of groin pain. My fibroid at the top hurts, my vagina now hurts and I just feel frightened now.

Ouch! That would piss me off and I’d tell her directly (but I’m probably a lot older than you and have no concerns about calling these things out!) be brave, it’s your body - they are experts to help you come to the best decision, and they are there to support you - it’s ok to remind them of this!
I’d prefer a cs due to the controlled environment, and I’ve got over the “urgh” around possibly having a vertical incision instead of horizontal one but if the fibroid is smack in the way it does make it very complicated!
