Does anything actually help or is it all just coincidence and old wives tales?
I'm 39 weeks now and midwife told me I was fully engaged on Thursday and said she'd be shocked if I didn't have baby by the end of the week as I've been having tightenings but now nothing😭
I'm so fed up, achey and desperate to get this baby here safely before things get even more crazy in the hospitals etc.
Any ideas🤞🏻

Lots and lots of walking.

sprite25 · 23/03/2020 09:25

40+2 here with 3rd baby, my previous two were both born 2 weeks past due date. I've tried so much each time to get baby out, bouncing on ball, walking, relaxation, sweeps, spicy food, nipple stimulating, orgasms.... Nothing ever worked 😒 I hate the saying but I think it's true that 'baby will come when it's ready'

Bol87 · 23/03/2020 11:33

Evening Primrose Oil .. I took one tablet orally in the morning & one vaginally at night. I went from zero signs to loosing my plug after day 2 & baby on day 4!

Could be a complete coincidence, I’ll never know but 🤷🏼‍♀️

Bol87 · 23/03/2020 11:34

Oh & I did have a sweep on said day4 .. sweeps have worked for me both pregnancies. Gone into labour 6 hours after the sweeps on both occasions!

GetTheSprinkles · 23/03/2020 11:36

Extra spicy curry (though could have been the fact that I was 6 days overdue...). Labour made me really nauseous and I soon vomited the entire curry- havent fancied an Indian since!

fedupandlookingforchange · 23/03/2020 11:37

Walking up a fairly steep hill or lots of stairs.

IceKitten · 23/03/2020 11:40

DC1 - curry
DC2 - sex

But both were already a week late so maybe we're on their way already.

Then DC3 surprised me by being early!

LividLaughLovely · 24/03/2020 06:27

Tried raspberry tea, walking, curries, shagging, nipples, bouncing, acupuncture, sweep, four lots of induction drugs...

What got him out? A caesarean 😅

mustangcanwait · 24/03/2020 06:33

The new cheesy/spicy Doritos. DP opened a pack the night before and I could barely take 1 as they were too spicy, the next day I chugged the rest of the bag and then contractions started 30 mins later lol

Am 40 weeks pregnant, due today but looks like he's not even planning to come today. Was just wondering the same, but I have been reading about what can be done to help start labour but it seems they come when ready. My baby isn't fully engaged but that's also not an issue cos they can engage when in labour but am so tired cos I had though he would be here by now. Am so exhausted ...........

mustangcanwait · 24/03/2020 16:53

@Bug8 I had a midwife app 2 days before I went into labour and baby wasn't even partially engaged yet and my labour was only 5.5 hours from my first contraction to final push, so there is still hope yet, everyone is differentSmile fingers crossed your little bundle will come soon!

Bug8 · 24/03/2020 20:50

@mustangcanwait thanks for the encouragement. Am a bit on a edge cos I got measured (by student midwife) yesterday when I saw the midwife and was told baby's growth had gone down. Was booked in for a growth scan tomorrow, so now on top of baby not making an appearance, am anxious abt his growth too. So am quite tired and unsettled.

RhymingRabbit3 · 25/03/2020 10:11

I dont think much actually makes a difference. I did have a curry the night before (not attempting to induce labour, just fancied one) but it was not very spicy! I'm sure some people would attribute labour to eating the curry but I would be very surprised. I was 4 days over my due date so it's almost certainly a coincidence.

SilverFox90 · 26/03/2020 21:12

Walking 100%. The day before my due date I did an 8hr shopping spree. When I got home and went to the toilet I’d lost half my plug. Went into labor the next morning xxx

RonSwansonsMustacheComb · 26/03/2020 21:21

A sweep and the fear of impending induction.

cucumbercookie · 27/03/2020 19:19

Thanks so much everyone! I tried a few but I gave up in the end and my waters have gone today out of the blue so baby should be here anytime ❤️

I walked 7 miles the day before I went into labour (a week early) and always credit that! I was also in the worst mood the day before I went into labour so that might be a sign too
