AROM only to induce - does it work?

I'm hoping for a VBAC but quickly approaching my c section date. My midwife has suggested I may be allowed to try a v mild form of induction whereby they would break my waters and see if that sets thing off. Has anyone had this? Did it work? Would you recommend trying it? I've never thought about induction before so quickly trying to gather information before making the decision in the next few days. Any advice would be really helpful! Thanks

A couple of things to to consider with AROM

  1. They will only be able to rupture membranes if your cervix is favourable so soft and effaced, which in itself is a sign that you are nearing going into labour.
  1. Once ruptured the clock starts ticking because there is a risk of infection to the baby so usually they will want baby delivered within 24hrs of AROM.

would your midwife be willing to do a sweep? Also try nipple stimulation but it needs to be for a long time. I hope you have a wonderful birth whichever way baby arrives. Congratulations Thanks
