Hi all, I’m currently 32 weeks and 5 days pregnant. I’ve got gestational diabetes and when I had my last measuring scan at 30 weeks, LO was weighing at 4.6lbs. I’m due to have another scan this week. My consultant says I will have my planned elected C-section at 38 weeks. Has anyone had experience with gestational diabetes and know whether it not there’s a high chance that I will have the C-section sooner if LO gets too big? Thanks in advance! Smile

They tend to wait until 38 weeks for planned induction or elective c section as at 38 weeks statistics show that baby will need little or no intervention after birth and that their lungs are fully formed.

I doubt that it would be brought any further forward unless foetal distress

Lots of friends (at least 6) have had to have growth scans and all were told their babies were far heavier than they were. I'm talking 3 lbs out! So try not to worry about it OP. Most went on to have c sections but none before 38 weeks. On the flip side I had a humongous bump, wasn't monitored or tested for gestational diabetes and gave birth naturally to an 11.5lber Blush

Ok, that's eased my mind. Thank you for your advice Smile
