Being induced Monday at 38 weeks so scared

Hi I'm looking for some nice stories as I am being induced on Monday. I'll be 38+3 and have had two unsuccessful sweeps this week due to cervix not being reachable.

With this being my first baby I have had high anxiety for childbirth since even starting the IVF journey and I feel I kind of had my head around listening to relaxation music and focusing on my breathing I would try my best to overcome it.

Now with being induced, I am scared it's going to all go out of control and I'll just be a right mess resulting in an un nice experience :( not even sleeping due to being scared and it's only Saturday lol.

Any advice or NICE experiences please??

My first was induced after unsuccessful sweep. Nice fast experience (not in a horrible way) had a pessary at midnight. At 8am had fluttetings like the lightest start if period pain. By 12 had contractions and was on occasional gas and air. Due to an existing recent scar causing excessive pain I opted for an epidural (probably wouldnt if the scar which was where a c section scar would be and less than a year old was wasnt tearing, and I was put on a drip to speed it ip h
because of the situation) at about 3 maybe, baby was born at 6.10pm. I can really say was a pretty good experience.
I think if I hadnt had previous surgery it would have been much less complicated too. Midwives were lovely. I had a very complicated and stressful pregnancy and suddenly the baby was there, it was a shock to suddenly have a baby on my chest.
Dont be afraid, go in with an open mind, you have no idea what will happen.there was every reason my labour shouldn't have been easy but it was simple .
Good luck

I've had 3 inductions and all 3 have been really positive experiences.

None of mine got "out of control" didn't need any interventions and no damage to me. The inky negative might be that at 38 weeks your body is naturally less ready so it can take longer to kick start but no need to panic,

DS1 42 weeks (just because i was way over due) pessary in 12:30 4cm by 2pm so off yo delivery. Baby arrived 5:54 next working

Dz2 (38 weeks for placenta failure and dropping growth) took a few cats before the process really started as was a heatwave / everyone seemed to be having babies so delivery was shut! Once the ball started rolling I went down and had my waters broken at 7pm baby arrived 2:54. Had drip because my body wasn't quite ready I guess just from pessary and had an epidural but again totally positive experience. I could feel to push even with the epidural

Ds (38 weeks because of placenta failure again) pessary given at 1pm but had to have it removed because she was back to back and my contractions were crazy intense but not dilating much as fast. Had enough to get me started. Waters broken at 1am and DD arrived at 7:54. She came very very fast! Went from 3cm to 10 in about 19 minutes so none was expecting her! Midwives we're handing over as I shouted I needed to push. 2 pushes later boom baby!

Why are you being induced early? Are there sound medical reasons for doing so? You don't have to consent induction.

I was induced with my first at 39 weeks (exactly) due to PROM. It was a drip induction and a positive experience on the whole.

My daughter was induced at 38 weeks for reduced foetal movements and her daughter was born the following day . The birth was amazing and surreal. She had an epidural which was self administered so daughter could control the pain and she was up walking around, bouncing on ball and rocking her hips. She stopped topping up the epidural at about 8 in the morning so she could feel the transition period and push effectively .She had chilled music nearer the end of labour. The midwifery team were amazing and her own community midwife came in and delivered baby on her day off .She was monitored throughout and only had the pessary . I do think the fact she kept mobile helped her labour progress .Good luck and try and relax .💐

Oh wow that sounds lovely I think music defiantly helps my speaker and playlist is ready (obviously won't be blaring the music 🤣)

You have made me feel abit more positive.. I'm being induced early as baby's growth has slowed down so last three growth scans have been a slower rise in growth and changes in movement patterns sometimes I can go over 12 hours without feeling a nudge. With him being an ivf baby and there not being any risk to having him out it's what has been advised xx

I was induced and like PPs it was fine also. Just to note I did get cut but barely felt it. I just don't want you to panic if it's needed that's all. Very positive experience overall. Wishing you the very best, xxx

I was induced at 37 weeks.

Pessaries didn't do much apart from opening my cervix just enough to have my waters broken. Went onto the drip after that. One shot of morphine, a great deal of gas & air and 12 hours later I had my baby. No interventions required.

Good luck OP. Hope all goes well. ❤️

It doesn't have to be awful. I was induced at 38+3 and it was an ok experience. Slightly uncontrolled as it was faster than the staff planned, but I managed a 3.5 hour labour with a bit of gas and air.
